March 30, 2003 A large group from Chicago's Iraqi community rallied for U.S. troops. The crowd recited the Pledge of Allegiance and waved American flags.
The Assyrian National Federation organized the demonstration at Warren Park. Demonstrators say it's time to end Saddam Hussein's brutal regime and held signs supporting the liberation of Iraq and supporting President Bush.

Wonderful news and thanks to our fellow Christians in the Assyrian community of Iraq.
Never forget the other enemy in Turkey: the genocide against Assyrian Christians in Turkey!

No. The Arabs were latecomers to the region

I was there and the crowd was 500 at the most. But it was a good thing and extremely interesting and important.

The downside, is that for the most part, it wasn't muslims. It was sponsored by the Assyrian-American Association which is made up of members of the Assyrian Christian Church, somewhat similar to Eastern Catholic. Hm, that's an idea, we could put Christians in charge of Iraq and convert the infidels Muslims. That would stop all this "Allah" nonsense, and since the country would no longer be Islamic other countries in the region wouldn't care.

I mean that many people who are assimilated to the Muslim community are the descendents of the people who were there at the time of the Muslim invasions. Do you mean that the Arabs now there came relatively recently, say since the 15th century?

No the Arabs entered the area in the last 2000 years. Islam came centuries later.
