The downside, is that for the most part, it wasn't muslims. It was sponsored by the Assyrian-American Association which is made up of members of the Assyrian Christian Church, somewhat similar to Eastern Catholic.

Hm, that's an idea, we could put Christians in charge of Iraq and convert the infidels Muslims. That would stop all this "Allah" nonsense, and since the country would no longer be Islamic other countries in the region wouldn't care.

I mean that many people who are assimilated to the Muslim community are the descendents of the people who were there at the time of the Muslim invasions. Do you mean that the Arabs now there came relatively recently, say since the 15th century?

No the Arabs entered the area in the last 2000 years. Islam came centuries later.
