The Book girls anxiously await the arrival of the Democrat Liars Club members. They hadn't quite figured out why we were massing on the opposite corner. But it didn't take them too long. We could see their lips moving as they read our signs.
Once they realized that we weren't fans, they had some choice comments for us. A short translation would be that they didn't think we had any right to be there. So I hollered over to them, "This is what Democracy looks like!"

We weren't there long before I spied David Brock arriving, but he quickly lost his smile and turned his head as he realized that we weren't fans. I took the photo of Brock from across the street where BufordP is standing in this photo. He caught all passersby from this great spot.
Lanny Davis spotted us as he approached the Liars Club meeting place, but he quickly backed up the street, hoping we would stop calling attention to his part in the Clinton Lie Machine. When he thought it was safe to scurry in, he approached the entrance, but was caught hold of by those diligent Book Girls, whose job it was to check off all the notables who had the misfortune to attend an event we were FReeping.

The highlight of the evening for me was to see little Tommy Daschle enter the Liars Club meeting not as a heroic leader, but as a shamed man... head down the whole time as he crept in through the service entrance (that means the way the trash goes out) in the alley.
Waitaminute! Was that a great big, gas guzzling SUV that he arrived in? I'm disappointed and saddened to learn this. Deeply saddened.

As the more famous liars left the club meeting (from the front door), Angelwood and I moved up to the alley where Tommy Daschle's SUV and taxpayer-funded driver awaited him.It was kind of a seedy way for a seedy guy to make his not-so-triumphant exit. His aide made a call when he saw us at the end of the alley, and two police officers arrived shortly thereafter. They were very nice and asked us to move across the street because some other cars were going to be arriving. As it turned out, none did, but we knew the plan and had made our point. Our presence was known to Tommy Daschle, and he certainly didn't want to have to listen to our free speech up-close. Of course Senator Daschle believes that we're all equal... but he's just a little more equal than us.
While the police officers were talking to me and Angelwood, our friend and fellow DC Chapter member from out of town called me and told me the news that Pfc. Jessica Lynch had been rescued in Iraq; and I passed the word to the officers. They had not heard any news for some time, and were very happy to hear this. Angelwood and I crossed the street on that high note; and waited to catch Tommy on film. It was not to be, as Tommy's driver has apparently expert skills at blocking his little charge from camera view with that great big SUV. So the rumor about Senator Daschle needing a step-stool to reach the running board of the truck will remain unproven, for now.
I took more photos, but since they were of the usual crowd of rat groupies who had assaulted us at previous rat events, I didn't want to waste our album space on them.
It was a fun-filled, fish-in-a-barrel kind of night for the DC Chapter members who were fortunate enough to attend.
"Greatest distance traveled" award goes to KLT and her friend, who drove down from NY city and drove back home right afterwards. Salud!
