Bush: 'We are committed to the Road Map'

By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

President George W. Bush said Tuesday that the US and Britain "are committed to the Road Map toward peace."

Speaking at a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, Bush added: "Now this process must be carried forward."

Moments earlier Blair also reaffirmed Britain's commitment to the plan, which calls for achieving Palestinian statehood by 2005.

"It's a hopeful time. I believe we can make progress," Bush said.

Bush further said he is pleased with the designated Palestinian premier Mahmoud Abbas.

LOL! at your obtuseness...

Do you not follow the events in the Middle East, because you are posting like you don't have a clue.

The PA is well armed and well-allied.

Israel has no intention of starting a war... and I certainly don't advocate that they do.

I'm was just suggesting by my previous post that the Palestinians aren't just lambs to the slaughter that you've been portraying them in your posts.

I must have missed the news about the Palestinians acquring tanks, artillery pieces, fighter jets, naval ships, and nuclear weaponry.

Loan guarantees are different than loans. The US has not given Israel anywhere near 100 billion.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if she turned on a dime out of self-interest and because that's what gentiles generally do.

I can imagine the outcry if someone described hypocritcal self-promotion and said "that's what Jews generally do."

Foreign Aid Grants and Loans $74,157,600,000

Only if you conflate the following:
Loan guarantees (no cost to US taxpayer)
Loans repayed by Israel (no cost to taxpayer)
and finally Forgiven Loans and grants. This fogure in under 30 Billion.
Frankly, I oppose economic aid to Israel. It props up the socialist-labor structure that is destroying Israel's economy.

There were 4 wars before 1986
1947-48.
1956
1967
1973
1983
3 of these were attempts by the Arabs to destroy Israel and slaughter every Jew in it.

I'm astonished to read the disgusting drivel here calling the expulsion of millions of people from their homes a "humane" and "just" solution. You folks are a bunch of Nazis and Communists! Hitler and Stalin, the worlds foremost experts on this behavior, would have been proud!

Every human has a right to their own home, and to live where they were born. How difficult is that to understand.

Why is it an atrocity to resettle 3 million people, currently living in abject squalor, amongst other people with whom they share a common language, religion and heritage, not to mention millions of square miles of undeveloped prime real estate?

Well, in absence of any evidence of my calling for the expulsion of 3 million people from anywhere, I’ll give the “disgusting drivel” prize to your compaing me to Hitler and Stalin, though I realize it’s not drivel, just run of the mill, cookie cutter propaganda. Save the bandwidth of a response, I’m not sure I have time to respond to ill informed idiots today, maybe later or tomorrow, but carton does a pretty good job of exposing your misrepresentations..

Adios, Yasser!

The Germans started a war of extermination against the Slavs. They lost.

Many Indian tribes use an ancestory of as little as 1/256 for membership, often less. Given the fact that the determination will be made by the Mexican government, I guess the “right of return” of those refugees caused by the Mexican American War and Texican rebellion may bring Aztlan to reality after all. New Englanders better be looking over their sholders as well.

In the words of someone another poster would refer to as a Stalin or Hitler, in rejection of the concept of a "right of return". And this guy didn’t even offer compensation!

Your ministers require that we should receive again into our bosom those who have been our bitterest enemies and restore their properties who have destroyed ours: and this while the wounds they have given us are still bleeding!

The road map's garbage, but Bush has ended up playing diplomacy to our advantage each time.

My view exactly. Not to cite to the "road map" would undercut Blair. Bringing peace to the Israeli/Palestinian issue is a fig leaf for Blair. However, Bush's insistence that terrorism stop before serious negotiations on "Palestine" can take place is, IMO, a huge step forward.

Lets translate that and strip it of its obfuscations so that its clearer to everyone here:

"My solution is that Israel go to war against unarmed civilians in Gaza and the West Bank and either expel them or kill them if they fail to leave immediately for Egypt or Jordan upon Israel's request."

Did you hear that on Al Jazeera?

Pick a boundary, any boundary, where the Jews have traded land for peace with the "palestinians" (a fictitious "people" whose identity rests on Historical lies) and have not been attacked by their peace partners. Why should Israel recognize past treaties that the "palestinians" routinely and murderously ignore?

There is only one madman who carried out a comparable policy to this - Stalin, who forcibly expelled and murdered millions of people within Russia, and then within the Baltic States, Poland, and Germany once he got the chance to occupy them with his army.

Again, Historically inaccurate. In response to their war of aggession under Hitler, the Germans gave up part of their territory to Poland; that's the model. It's long past time the Arabs paid that price for their repeated wars of agression against Israel, and their obvious goal of genocide.

Giving the Arabs ever more Israeli land rewards their terror, and encourages more of the same.

In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Bush: 'We are committed to the Road Map', Hermann the Cherusker wrote: The Palestinians did not "come from" Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan. There have always been Arabs living in the land between the Sea and the Jordan. Certainly the modern day inhabitants were almost all born there.

These so-called "palestinians" are largely the descendents of Historically recent immigrants, both legal and illegal, from surrounding Arab countries.

More History...

Thanks for the link. Do you think there is any possibility Jordan would accept 3 million Palestinians from the occupied territories in exchange for Iraq? Sounds reasonable and an excellent alternative to the continuing conflict in Israel.

Accepting refugees was never the crux of the idea, in fact one of the stated benefits to Jordan was the dilution of it's existing palestinian population. I don't think it's under consideration.

3 of these were attempts by the Arabs to destroy Israel and slaughter every Jew in it.

Those are "irrelevant," no doubt, as was Jewish surrender of 78% of the Transjordan to pacify Arab atrocities in the 1920s, and create a "palestinian homeland."

But do you really think that if Israel were left to it's own accord without backing from the US, that the Arabs would not unite just enough to try and wipe Israel off the face of the map??

I don't think it is as simple as that. Part of US strategy viz. aid and loans to Israel is to maintain its qualitative military edge over any (combination of) Arab state(s) so as to prevent Israel from using nukes as a last-ditch if-all-else-fails "doomsday" weapon if it is about to be overrun.

Part of what prompted the massive airlift of tanks and other weaponry to Israel in Oct. '73 was the satellite imagery of Israel's Jericho missile site being readied.

Just my take on it.

To most of the world, that is appalling. That's why everyone else is pushing for the establishment of some sort of state.

What sort of state do you have in mind? A Palestinian "state" that controls it's own borders and can bring in any weapons it wants? You really think that's a solution? I see it as a prescription for a greater Jihad. Far better to have things stay the way they are.

I suspect that W knows full well that the so-called "Palestinians" are incapable of the decency it will take for them to ever arrive at anything even resembling the cogency to forge a "state", but instead will eventually give Israel the necessary justification for purging Islamism from its midst once and for all.

There are 21 Muslim Arab countries full of empty land. Because its a flipping desert and has been for 5000 years!

Saudi Arabia is a desert. 25 years ago it's population was 6 million. Yet it's population is now 25 million. Do the math clownski. Arab nations could certainly accommodate the Palestinians if they were driven out. Not that I advocate it at this time.
