Bush: 'We are committed to the Road Map'

By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

President George W. Bush said Tuesday that the US and Britain "are committed to the Road Map toward peace."

Speaking at a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, Bush added: "Now this process must be carried forward."

Moments earlier Blair also reaffirmed Britain's commitment to the plan, which calls for achieving Palestinian statehood by 2005.

"It's a hopeful time. I believe we can make progress," Bush said.

Bush further said he is pleased with the designated Palestinian premier Mahmoud Abbas.

We, if you mean americans, are not in a position to declar war on Arafat.

Well Palestinians were in the first attack on the WTC, Sirhan Sirhan was a Palestinian, Palestinians killed 24 Americans over here in the last couple of years, and Palestinians kidnapped our diplomats and killed them at Arafats direct order. And Palestinians are in Iraq attacking our troops to defend Sadam. The Palestinians have declared war on us (Jihad) and burn our flags and issue bountys for our civilian deaths. Some of Bin Laudins private guards are Palestinians. Palestinians killed the Marines in the Baracks bombing in Lebanon.

I am not sure what more they could do that would improve our position to declare war on them at this point.

Your whole statement!

"Israel has no better friend than the US government, and more importantly the American people. I suggest that everyone give this process a bit more time to develop before condeming it."

Particularly the last sentence.

This "process" is a sham, and an Arab incrementalist step towards destroying Israel.

The PLO was founded 3.5 years BEFORE the 1967 war, with the express purpose of destroying Israel. Arafat (Egyptian by birth - not "Palestinian"), so the PLO couldn't have been charged with ending the so-called "occupation" of the Samaria and Judea ("the West Bank") and Gaza... since they were at the time parts of Egypt and Jordan.

Also, there is no such thing as a Palestinian people. Palestine was the designation the Romans gace to the land in order to try to de-Judaize it. They named it after the long-extinct Phillistines, who BTW weren't Arabs, either. They were Hellenic seafaring people.

There has never been a Palestinian state because there were never historically Palestinians. It's a recent invention. Let's hear it for the 60's. :(

If you disagree, do some research and tell me...

Who are some great Palestinian leaders in history?

Where was the capital of a past Palestinian state? What were it's borders? What were it's major cities?

Why not? IMO, that's the only viable option. The Israelis should say "Screw the UN", and, for that matter "screw the US State Department" when it comes to their national security.

Since Israel is a democracy, if they annex the area, would the Palestinians become citizens? Would they have the right to vote?

There are approximately 6 million Israeli citizens, incliding 1 million Arabs. Unless the Palestinians are treated as non-citizens and Israel abandons it's status as a democracy, annexation is not an option unless Israelis are prepared to live in a nation where Arabs are the majority.

Well, regarding the "Palestinians," I believe that at Oslo, Barak, either due to pressure or false hope of peace, gave in to 90% of their demands. The "Palestinians" were so pleased with him for that, that they responded by virtually declaring war on Israel.

Additionally, these people danced and partied at the news of 9/11. Now they are running to Iraq to support the monster Saddam who is hated by his own people. It's hard for me to understand why they need yet another nation.

My belief is that their hatred exists in its present form because Arab countries have contrived it, in hopes that such hatred can help them destroy Israel.

I have a good idea. Export the Palestinians to France! Maybe they can learn to be civilized from the Algerians. ;)

There are over 3 million Palestinians. Other than sending
them to France, does anyone rejecting the Bush road map have a realistic answer to the simple question, what do you do with 3 million people?

" Perhaps he is no better than his father after all."

Great, another Chicken Little, sky's falling, newbie logging on to relieve himself of his fear that Bush is selling us all out. Haven't seen one of those in a long time…

The road map's garbage, but Bush has ended up playing diplomacy to our advantage each time.

Ezekiel 47

The Boundaries of the Land
13 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "These are the boundaries by which you are to divide the land for an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel, with two portions for Joseph. 14 You are to divide it equally among them. Because I swore with uplifted hand to give it to your forefathers, this land will become your inheritance.

15 "This is to be the boundary of the land:

"On the north side it will run from the Great Sea by the Hethlon road past Lebo Hamath to Zedad, 16 Berothah and Sibraim (which lies on the border between Damascus and Hamath), as far as Hazer Hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran. 17 The boundary will extend from the sea to Hazar Enan, along the northern border of Damascus, with the border of Hamath to the north. This will be the north boundary.
18 "On the east side the boundary will run between Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the eastern sea and as far as Tamar. This will be the east boundary.
19 "On the south side it will run from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribah Kadesh, then along the Wadi of Egypt to the Great Sea. This will be the south boundary.
20 "On the west side, the Great Sea will be the boundary to a point opposite Lebo Hamath. This will be the west boundary.

21 "You are to distribute this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. 22 You are to allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the aliens who have settled among you and who have children. You are to consider them as native-born Israelites; along with you they are to be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel. 23 In whatever tribe the alien settles, there you are to give him his inheritance," declares the Sovereign LORD .

Israel will not be divided by anyone.

When did Gaza and Samaria become part of modern Israel? Did I miss an annexation?

The new Palestinian 'Prime Minister' is already admitting the impossibility of implementing the 'Road Map':

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/888036/posts

The old Egyptian terrorist Arafat will let go of power only when it is pried from his cold dead hands.

Why any seemingly reasonable human being thinks that you can negotiate with such implacable bloodthirsty enemies is beyond me.

I think you do with them what Israel wants done with them. Israel doesn't oppose a state... but, you can't enforce peace on either side... and you can't reward terror.

If the Road Map is allowed to succeed without significant reform in the PA, then that Palestinian state becomes 1) Judenrein 2) a Terror Oganization 3)committed to the Phased Plan, which is the next step (according to the Palestinians) of their destruction of Israel.

Those in Israel who oppose a state (Netanyahu is one) understand the long-term goals of the PA.

There are Palestinians in the West Bank who just want peace. Who think Israel is a good friend. They do not have a voice and no power. Arafat's control is too great.

Reform can happen if those Palestinians who will work for peace can be elevated into power. Do that, and a Palestinian state could work. But, the roadmap doesn't address it.

Lip service is given to the terror mostly because the West sees the terror as a sympton of hopelessness and not the work of hopefulness. Terror continues because terror works. Terror has consistently caused the West to deliver Israel and coerce Israel into positions that are untenable.

I do believe the President when he says that terror must stop... and reforms must be implemented. But Europe, Russia, the UN, and our own State Department are putting out a different signal altogether. A state in 5 years... no matter what.
