IRAQI COMEDY NETWORK -- The Always Hilarious Baghdad Bob

ICONOCLAST DAILY NOTEBOOK....

Iraqi Comedy Network

Talk about leaving 'em laughing. There's no doubt that Iraqi's Minister of Information, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf, has become the "must-see" TV comedic sensation of the Iraqi war. Capable of uttering the most outrageous laugh-out-loud whoppers about Iraqi "victories" in the war, while keeping a complete straight face, Saddam's comedic sidekick is burning up the airwaves with his side-splitting routine.

Of course, Mr. al-Sahhaf wouldn't recognize an American tank if it's gun barrel were staring him in the face. Which is what makes his routines so humorous, since several American gun barrels will be staring him in the face in the next day or two. And although for several months after, he may be forced to do his riotous routine for Coalition jail guards from a prison cell, a future career in the public eye obviously beckons.

For example, imagine the success that would attend Mr. al-Sahhaf as a play-by-play radio commentator for the sadsack Chicago Bulls basketball team -- fashioning a fantasy picture of imaginary stuffs and dunks by the Bulls' woefully untalented stiffs while the team gets the stuffing beat out them yet again. Or perhaps this former minister of disinformation could become an on-air spokesperson for Al Gore, chronicling Mr. Gore's imaginary political victory in the 2004 Presidential election, or trumpeting Gore's discovery of the Internet.....

The man's even more outrageously funny than Susan Sarandon.

SNL needs to offer him the Weekend Update slot. "Good evening, I'm Baghdad Bob and your are not."

After reading...

Baghdad Bob found himself to me more of a "the glass is half full" kind of guy.

He didn't have his usual press conference this morning did he? Maybe his boss is dead or he just doesn't want to risk getting so close to coalition forces.

Ooops, I take that back. I just saw Baghdad Bob on FNC. He wasn't denying our forces were in the city this time.

I sometimes think Bob is so outlandish he has to be a double operative. Even his own people look at him and say "Oh, that's just crazy old Bob!" and then he can get away with all sorts of hyjinks.

If he can only dig deep down in himself, find that real hatred for U.S., he could take Jon Stewart's place on the "Daily Show."

Poor Jon is ready to implode.

Replace Jennings with Baghdad Bob. For the truthful news.

Not a bad move for ABC, especially considering that Baghdad Bob's ratings are far higher than Jennings'.

The truth could be that Baghdad Bob has a gun pointed at his family and has been told to say anything that would make Saddam's military look bad means execution...

Un-named sources refused to confirm this morning that two major networks are bidding on an entertainment/news platform to be aired early summer.

Reportedly the un-confirmed show will broadcast from the basement of the United Nations. It will be co-anchored by Joe Isuzu and Baghdad Bob.
