Journalist Craig Nelson interviewed on CNN says Iraqis hated Saadam but resent US liberating them.

Now that we've liberated Iraq we will be resented because we are a big western power doing something they couldn't do themselves.

"Don't kill them," said Hadi Al-Baghdadi, a 42 year-old Iraqi living in Dearborn, referring to Saddam and members of the ruling Baath party. "Put them in cages in a zoo. And then we can use the admissions fees to rebuild Iraq."

We can't make the whole world like us. That's a fact. However, we can make them respect us. Given a choice between the two, I'd choose "respect" over "like" any time. Perhaps the next time some tin-pot tyrant gets a bee in his bonnet, he'll remember what happened in Iraq. That's not such a bad thing.

Just like under communism, not everybody suffered. There were those who "feasted during the famine". Not everyone who ran things were Saddam's relatives because he ran out of jobs for them. A group of people did live the good life, off the blood of others. These people are the ones CNN will seek out to put on camera. Saddam's end wasn't good for them. Luckily they are a small minority. They should be worried about getting strung up by their own people anyway.

Oh! He has had time to take a poll on this since this morning?

Who did he ask? Wolf Blitzer? Christanne? Judy?

I don't care if they LIKE us. But it sure looks like the ones in Iraq do, doesn't it? As for the rest of them, I'm not interested in their "hearts and mind." I'm leaning more toward that "fear of God" thing.

Clinton's kumbayah years didn't do much for us, did it? I agree: "fear of God" works better than Clintonian psychobabble.
