April 11, 2003 -- Just how far will the fallout from Saddam Hussein's demise reach?

Here's what an Arab affairs expert, Shefi Gabai, said Wednesday: "This is a major earthquake for the Mideast. In the eyes of the Arab masses, Saddam was the only leader who defied the West."

If it takes a Western-sparked earthquake to bring about change, so be it. The net result will be great news not just for the West, but for Arabs as well. Anyone who doubts it, can just ask the liberated Iraqis who greeted Americans in Baghdad this week.

We all can hope that the above is true. At the same time, even though Moslems are not genetically dumb, their religion preaches to them to resist progress, shun outsiders, and maintain primitive ways of life (such as the secondary status of women). With these precepts to live by, it will be a long road for them to progress.

The Iraqi people have absolute (justifiable) vengence in their hearts against al-Jazeera and have been burning and looting the offices of this vomitous propaganda outlet.

Would the people in Damascus cheer as American tanks entered their city?

I guess the only way to find out for sure is to roll in a few divisions and see for ourselves (since the media analysts are so unreliable).

Al-Jazeera's loss of credibility is an even greater loss for bin Laden and his supporters.

Probably … but you can bet the Lebanese in Beirut would love to see the Syrians fall.

"America did not ask for this burden. Certainly, the war was not waged to acquire land, confiscate property or subjugate populations."

Iraq conveys two messages to the Middle East, at the very least, in the post 9-11 world:
- The US will act to protect its own interests.
- More importantly - Screw with us and your F'd.
