‘Professional protester’ accepts offer to France

Dear Editor, the Tribune:

A "serious" offer was made by a caller to the Tribune’s March 29 Trib Talk to purchase tickets enabling "professional protesters" to go to France, Korea or Nigeria. While I don’t consider myself a professional, I do protest President George W. Bush’s illegal aggression against Iraq every opportunity I get, and I also am for fair elections and a clean environment. Does that qualify me for a ticket?

Though I’m not much interested in Korea or Nigeria, I would love to see France. Please send a check for airfare payable to me at the address below. Thank you for this marvelous opportunity, and viva la France.

(The Name and address was published and included w/letter...)

I'd toss in a $20 bill for a one way ticket...I'd even call him up to make sure he was on the plane. I'd write up a contractand have him sign.....and then I would hound him for for backing out of the deal.

another wanker.

Typical. These louts are motivated by selfish reasons in everything they do. This guy has nothing to back up the charge that it was "illegal" to wage war, but he'll gladly take a free trip to france. Someone needs to visit this guy and knock some sense into him. It probably won't happen (knocking sense into him) but it sure would be fun trying!!

If you consider anyone who cets paid to protest a "professional protester" then we have about 10-20 (representing the liberals) who showed up at EVERY tax protest here in Tennessee. They would all show up at about 9 a.m. and would all go home at about 4 p.m.

sorry, the Travelocity link didn't work right...

Oneway to Paris price (probably not any different than a round trip price) is $500 - but it is one way or no way

Yeah. It's all Me, Me, Me.
What would he do that is productive (not protesting)?

He thinks it is a trip to France to see the sights. I think the offer was to pay airfare for them to GO to France... like go for good so they can be among their own kind.

Yeah, can't believe that little detail was lost on him, although it shouldn't surprise me.

It's all Me, Me, Me.

Another thing about liberals is they are magnetically drawn to anything with the word "Free!" involved. It's the only reason they discover Free Republic. I heard a college professor call in to a public radio show this morning who received a similar offer. He said he planned to convert the ticket into a round trip one to Hawaii. He was serious and was quite happy to accept the free ticket.

Hey Einstein!
You do know that's a one-way ticket right?
