On the Usenet newsgroup ACECW during the Clinton scandal days, someone wrote a letter to a newspaper editor complaining about the paper's tendency to ignore great chunks of the Whitewater story. The editor was named Malin, and Malin answered the letter by saying that they were under no obligation to print everything that came into the newsroom.

As a result, the term 'malinize' was created. It means to underreport the news for partisan purposes. Malinization crept into general usage and I still see it from time to time. CNN was malinizing.

I wonder how long it will be before the guy from judicial Watch grabs his headlines on this?

Your right what did happen to Larry Clay?

And we can add his stories to the News THEY report, what ever happened to all his 3000 lawsuits?!

Perhaps an appropriate course of action would be for anyone who is really diturbed by the article, and CNN's 12 years of complicity in 'covering up' or 'not reporting' the news fairly and accurately and objectively, should perhaps email their state senators and congressmen/women to urge them to open hearings on whether this type of non-reporting/non-action constitutes complicity with a dictatorial regime. I imagine Peter Arnett was in bed with the Iraqi elite as well and knew of many of the same kinds of things that this article contained.
Congressional hearings would be appropriate - although I'm not sure the press is obligated under law to reveal sources, they may be obligated to NOT give aid to an enemy.

This should be investigated. I'm sure ethics have been stomped on, but more so,.. the CNN Reporter KNEW OF MURDERs and didn't report it was going to happen.

He could have told SOMEONE~!!!!

A Grand Jury investigation needs to be started immediately.

Since when do we let repoerters be an accessory to a crime/a murder?

This isn't the only issue. Even worse is that for twelve years, CNN not only suppressed the truth, they reported Saddam's propaganda just to keep their office in Baghdad and keep their staff from being tortured and killed. They have functioned as the Iraqi Ministry of Propaganda, spreading Saddam's lies all over the world and increasing anti-Americanism everywhere.

Don't miss the big picture. CNN isn't just complicit in torture and murder. CNN also served as a bonafide mouthpiece for Saddam's regime, for twelve long years, parroting Saddam's lies while portraying him as a victim of American lies. They NEVER reported objectively, because doing so would have threatened their staff and gotten them kicked out of Baghdad. When faced with the prohibition of reporting the truth, they failed to do the honorable thing, which was to pull its staff out and leave Baghdad. They chose to remain, even though it meant they were forced to report Saddam's lies. By covering up what was going on in Iraq, they condemned thousands of Iraqis to death over those twelve years, and despite knowing what was going on, they did their damnedest to fan the flames of anti-war fervor and portray Bush as a criminal. Even now, they continue to slant their news against Bush and the war, when they know Saddam was guilty as sin. And they do this even though Saddam is no longer around to threaten them. They made a pact with the devil which they cannot break, even now, and the damage they have done is incalculable.

The reason I started this:

DUBOB 11-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....

was the long-noticed but seldom taken to task propensity of the Media to

1- either remain stonily silent about certain "issues..." ( one of their favorite buzzwords )
2- or mention it once and then forevermore claim "it's old news, we already covered it; nobody's interested..."

Unless I misinterpreted his comments and he was being ironic, even Chas. Krauthammer dismissed this outrage as standard issue journalism…

Crimes - Accessory - After Fact - Definition

One who, with knowledge of the felon's guilt, renders assistance to a felon in an effort to hinder his detection, arrest, trial or punishment is an accessory after the fact.

The above cite is from Michigan, although I'm sure the US Code has a similar/identical definition (don't know where to find it). Unless CNN has special protections to not afforded to others (which would seem incredulous to me), I would think what they've done must be criminal, besides unethical.

In any event, I agree with the new section, of a watch dog/reminder side list.....we forget things too easily. Some things should not be forgotten; this is one.

Absolutely. I really think the war in Iraq has exposed some of these so-called news journalists and media outlets for what they really are.

And decorum prevents me from using the adjectives that I'd like to....

PRESIDENT CLINTON: "Senator, I know your crowd is for privatizing Social Security, so I'm not surprised you also want to privatize the U.N."

MUDBOY SLIM: Bill, you IGNORANT SLUT!! The RightWing don'wanna "privatize the U.N.", we wanna ignore it and de-legitimize it, and get it outta this Country...NOW!!!

Tiny Li'l Willard: "No one says the U.N. is perfect, but perfect or not isn't it good for America -- in a war against terror -- to have allies?"

MBS: Slick, thou speaketh with forked tongue...America will ALWAYS have allies as long as there are FReedom-Loving peoples accross the Globe!! The U.N. is Counter-Productive to the Forces of Liberty!!

Slick, the EX-Traitor-in-Chief: "Yes, it can be frustrating -- like when I had to work with a Republican Congress. But the U.N. has already passed a strong resolution on Iraq. And while legally, President Bush doesn't need another one, wouldn't it be better to have one, adopting Prime Minister Blair's disarmament deadlines? That might cause Saddam to disarm without military action. At least we'd have more support if invasion comes."

Mr. Slim: "Slick, YER a hypocritical PUNK!! You IGNORED Terrorism fer Eight FRiggin' Years...and yer MINION IDIOT Successor-to-be Algore gits WHUPPED in his own home state to lose the Presidency...and you want Dubyuh and the American people to IGNORE LeftWingTerrorists fer his term, too?! You ain't Slick, PUNK, yer just a Bull$#!+-Babblin'BaFOOOOOON!!

SENATOR DOLE: "I just don't agree."

MUD: Senator, with all due respect to my fellow Kansan, SHADDDDUUUUUPPPP!!

PRESIDENT CLINTON: "Come on senator, when I was President, you didn't say we should invade Iraq."

MUD: SHEEEEEEEESH, dirtbag, YOU were the Commander-in-Chief!! Too bad the Chi-Coms had ya in their back pocket!! Yer a TRAITOR, dude!! Why don't you self-exile yerself to wherever the hell it is we send the United Nations packin'?!!

SlickWillie: "By the time I left office, tough sanctions, inspections and air strikes had left him far weaker than he was in the Gulf War, as I think we'll see if there's military action."

MUD: Whatever...

The EX-RAPIST-in-Chief: "No question: he must be disarmed. But let's do it in a way that unites -- not divides -- the world and gives us a last chance to avoid a bloody conflict."

MUD: Mission Accomplished!! NO THANKS to you, scumbag!!

Heh heh heh...MUD

BTW...Let America PROPOSE a NEW League of Nations...The League of FReeNations!!

I realize that. That is why I mentioned it. No one else in the media will do anything, 'cept maybe give CNN a slap on the wrist, if that much.
