[history]
April 14, 2003 -- Top-secret Iraqi intelligence documents found in Baghdad show that Russia funneled spy secrets to Saddam Hussein and that Moscow was still training Iraqi spies last fall, in violation of U.N. sanctions, reports say.
The captured documents also show that the Kremlin gave Saddam lists of assassins who could do "hits" in the West and that Iraq and Russia signed deals to share intelligence and help get "visas" so agents could go to Western countries, the London Telegraph reported.

No wonder Russia didn't want us going in.
Meanwhile, the big 3 TV channels seem to be ignoring this story, which, IMHO, should be lead story and front page everywhere. Instead, they are pitching softball human interest interviews with the high school teachers of the POWS. Apparently that's all they think the mushy-headed sheeple can handle. Grrrr.
I wish I had cable, but I live too far out in the boonies.

How about satellite direct TV/Broadband? That's what I am seriously considering. I understand the package is about 100 a month.

One should never forget that Putin "got his bones" as an ex-KBG head and agent. Methinks "W" must step back and re-evaluate what he "saw" in Vlads' eyes.

I've been looking at that too. But we have a lot of trees right in the line of sight to the satellite, not sure if those would block it. It's not a real clear shot.
We keep hoping they'll finally run the cable down the road (it stops 1/2 mile from the house, but they want 5 K to finish the line!)

Just as well legend in his own lunchtime, Blathering Blair, wasn't around in 1945 or he'da wanted US to set up a new gummint on Guadalcanal before we used Hiroshima and Nagasaki to get the attention of Human History's, then, THIRD [Now, thanks to chairman Mao, only fouth] most prolific mass-murderer: Hirohito.

Now we see why the Russians stayed so long in Iraq, trying to destroy documents. I suspect that the most incriminating materials were already removed or destroyed. It also explains Russia's attempt to buy the Iraqi intelligence archives. Hopefully, they didn't succeed.

I wish I had cable, but I live too far out in the boonies. I had a dish installed last fall. It took me many months to come around to the decision to do that. I do not like television. I think it's essentially evil.
Then the America's Cup sailboat races in New Zealand were coming up (the Louis Vuiton Cup, to be more exact -- the challengers). I had to see those, and the only way to do that was to get a dish. So I went to the local Radio Shack and signed up for the most basic service.
I have been quite pleased with it. It's been better than expected. I like being able to get the Food Network, the Animal Planet channel, and C-SPAN. It works quite well.
My one complaint is with the remote control gizmo. It is designed to be able to control *everything*, including things you may not have. Touch the wrong button and you're toast. I've learned to be very careful with it.
To: LizardQueen
One nice thing about the dish, btw, is that you can create a personalized list of the channels you like to watch.
The entire list of channels is way too long. It seems like there must be a thousand of them, most of which I have no interest in. My own list includes about twenty. Could be less.
Learning how to do this takes some work. You have to read the manual. Even then, it takes some work. Some fooling around with the remote (which can be a disaster if you aren't careful).
Once done, however, it is a very nice feature.
If you push the right button, the remote will give you the equivalent of a TV Guide for the channels you like. You can see what's on and what's coming up. Then you just click on whatever you want to watch.
It really is pretty good. It's better than cable.
To: LizardQueen
Cable isn't covering this either. They are doing pretty much what you described.
To: LizardQueen
Trees are only a problem with the large dishes. The newer smaller dish only needs to have one fixed line of sight. Dish can fix you up.
There is an advantage to being in the boondocks because you will be able to get network broadcasts.

Wonder if these documents were grabbed from that Russian convoy that was attempting to escape Iraq a couple of weeks ago.

I'm happy to see that at least someone's on topic. By the time I read this far, I had to check the story again just to make sure this was a thread about the Russia-Iraq relationship.

It seems odd that Bush and the government seem to NOT want to find any WMD or other incriminating evidence. Every find is downplayed into nothing. This would indicate that the military people in the field are either incompetent or the equipment they are using is worthless. Makes one wonder.
