SEATTLE (AP) -- James Ujaama, the American Muslim accused of backing al-Qaida, pleaded guilty Monday to conspiring to provide cash, computers and fighters to the Taliban, the former Afghan rulers who sheltered Osama bin Laden.
Ujaama pleaded guilty to a single felony count in an appearance before U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein, said John Hartingh, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office. Other charges were dropped, including one accusing Ujaama of plotting to set up a terrorist camp in Oregon.
Ujaama made a brief statement, saying he accepted responsibility for his actions and knew they were wrong. Ujaama said he recognized that if he didn't agree with U.S. laws, there were more appropriate forums to air his views.
As part of the deal, Ujaama will serve two years in prison, with credit for the time he has served since his arrest in July 2002. He could be released from prison in as little as 21 months.
The plea agreement includes provisions to ensure Ujaama continues to cooperate with prosecutors.

Based on the numbers of arrests, that boy is living under a death sentence if his former "friends" get a hold of him.

I hope they got some very useful intel from him. I hope so. I thought this was a big cell bust when it first happened. He was supposedly setting up a terrorist training camp in Oregon.

"Based on the numbers of arrests, that boy is living under a death sentence if his former "friends" get a hold of him."No way. He'll move back to Seattle, call in his political IOU's from the current mayor & governor, run and get elected as the next mayor of Seattle. One of the perks of the gig is taxpayer paid armed guards.

...FLASHBACK...
James Ujaama speaks out against scrutiny
Saturday, July 20, 2002
By CANDACE HECKMAN
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER
James Ujaama said in a statement yesterday that he and his brother, Mustafa Ujaama, are prepared to challenge criminal charges -- if any are ever brought against them -- that suggest they associated with terrorists.
In addition, James Ujaama said that an FBI inquiry into the brothers' activities and subsequent media reports have damaged his business and shattered their family.
"My brother and I are not terrorists, and we should not have been charged in the media and harassed," James Ujaama said in a statement e-mailed to Seattle Post-Intelligencer columnist Robert L. Jamieson Jr. last night.
News reports in the past few days have said the brothers are being investigated for their ties to the defunct Central District mosque Dar-us-Salaam, which is said to be under scrutiny for possible links to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist network.

I think the Govt case must have been pretty strong, or he wouldn't have pleaded. Also, he must have given up a lot of info first to even get offered such a deal.
I think one of the problems with dealing with American-born black Muslim terrorists is that it's important not to make them into the next Mumia. The leftists (not black, btw - simply leftist) are just waiting for that.

You nailed it with these two paragraphs:

Last but not least, he can't afford to be alone with any Black Muslims, NOI's, Black Panthers or as Fuqra prisoners. I doubt if he makes it out of prison. If he makes it out, he will be killed in less than a year.

Thanks for the info - I missed those threads. This is great news.
To: freeperfromnj
This is what is great about Free Republic. Two different threads are posted on separate days and there appears to be no linkage. Then someone like me who has been following this American POS, has the light bulb go off. Then we link the two together.
When Mad Ivan posted that we were getting the big creep from London, it became very obvious what that this POS had rolled over on some evil biggies here and around the world.

To: freeperfromnj
Don't give up on a probable connection between al Fuqra and the DC Sniper. I don't think the al Qaeda wanted to be associated with Mohammed, the DC sniper.
There still is a lot of stuff that has been stuffed in the closets in the left wing controlled areas of Washington and Oregon re Mohammed. It probably deals with Black Muslims or NOI's, and they don't want to crack that egg yet.
