[history]
CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan yesterday sent a memo to his staff defending his decision to withhold information about how Saddam Hussein's regime had intimidated, tortured and killed Iraqis who had helped the cable news network over the years.

I got so tired of reading articles like this that I finally decided to e-mail Eason Jordan. As a patriotic American I was absolutely offended by his statements and decided to e-mail him. I suggest you all do too. He committed the most deadly sin in journalism and had the nerve to try and justify it. I am not, nor have I ever been, a CNN watcher, but I can't imagine how anyone who is/was could ever trust them again. It is disgraceful. Its time for everyone to tell him what they think.
Eason Jordan: eason.jordan@turner.com
My e-mail: "Mr. Jordan, I am outraged not only by your op/ed piece in the 4/11 New York times, but by your weak defense and justification for the most egregious act in journalism. You willfully deceived your nation and your viewers to maintain relationships with the Iraqi government that you believed would benefit your own agenda. Its a disgraceful and sickening act that you should be ashamed of."

Did it even occur to Mr. Jordan to try to get these people amnesty in return for being allowed to publicly report what they told him?
Why do I have the feeling that he simply didn't want to make Saddam Hussein "look bad", or to possibly cause the U.S. to go to war with Iraq?
It amazes me how some well-known liberals actually seem to like dictators like Hussein and Castro...

There is already a thread about this. You should NOT post this in breaking news just because you're angry. This should have been a post in a different thread from long ago.
Secondly, we never ever EVER post an entire Washington Post article in this forum.
Bad post.

S'OK, you're a newbie. But breaking news is for breaking news, and there are very good legal reasons why we don't post all of Post articles.
BUT of course I agree with you that Jordan's a problem. Apparently he's also not to popular, to judge by the way he's being attacked by his own.

This is way beyond email.
What he did was the equivalent to what Hitler's concentration camp guards did.
I'm going to let the Lord handle this one.

Well, I really screwed the pooch on this one. I'm glad at least someone got the point of what I was trying to say. For those of you so offended by more poor post, I am sincerely sorry and am taking myself behind the woodshed for a good ol' fashioned beating.

Dear Mr. Jordan,
While your NYT op-ed piece may be a weak attempt at justification for your deliberate omission and obfuscation of the truth, what it really shows is the following:
Had you printed the truth sooner, you may have been responsible for saving thousands of lives, not to mention the torture and rapes that occurred during your period of shameful silence.
I would not want to live with all the blood that is on your hands.
Good luck trying to forget,
