[history]
Easter is the most important event of the Christian faith, when people around the world join together with family and friends to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the hope of life to come.
For Christians, the life and death of Jesus are the ultimate expressions of love and the supreme demonstrations of God's mercy, faithfulness and redemption. Since Christ's miraculous resurrection on Easter, more than 2,000 years ago, Christians have expressed joy and gratitude for this wondrous sacrifice and for God's promise of freedom for the oppressed, healing for the brokenhearted and salvation.

Politically, he makes me mad with some frequency, but this side of him I adore.

Notice how he carefully avoids saying that he and Laura believe in Christ or in the Resurrection, but only that they believe that "joy comes in the morning," etc. This is appropriate for a Presidential message. Note, however, that the Resurrection is mentioned as something that actually happened, rather than as something that "Christians believe" happened.

Amen. God has blessed this nation with a fine leader!

Actually, no Bush did not hide his faith here. He is proud to include his faith. Sometimes he just says "for Christians" and avoids directly making a statement about what he believes to be true.
This time, he did say that wording in describing what the holiday means for Christians, but also put in this in the beginning: "Easter is the most important event of the Christian faith, when people around the world join together with family and friends to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, THE Son of God and THE hope of life to come."
This is not ambiguous at all. Sure, he says it is the most important event in the Christian faith, but he does not beat around the bush when he says Jesus is THE Son of God.
Bush includes his faith in these messages in a tasteful way though so it doesn't come out and hit you in the stomach.

Am I mistaken or was it just under 2,000 years ago?

Well, if you take Daniel's 62+7 weeks(sevens) from
Daniel 9:24-26 as 483 prophetic years(360 days/prophetic years) or 476 yrs 25 days from the time the decree was issued to rebuild the temple(March 5,444BC), that would put the Annointed One's entry at March 30, 33AD.
So 7 days after Palm Sunday would give April 6, 33AD or 1970 years and 13 days from this Easter.
I think President Bush was thinking about the time of Christ's birth rather than resurrection. I'm surprised no one caught it.

Oh, for goodness' sake, Arthur! How painful your life must be to find fault wherever you go, even where there is none......to see something where there is nothing......or rather in this case, to see nothing, when there is clearly something.
rw, you are exactly right....the President declares his faith in Christ clearly in this Easter message without 'hitting you in the stomach.' His faith is obvious in his message, and in his life.......and what he says here is meant for his brothers and sisters in Christ. I seriously wonder if those who don't see his faith, don't share his faith.
Praise the LORD for a President who knows the truth, seeks the truth, and lives the truth! I pray that he and his family spend a restful and renewing Easter together.
A BLESSED Easter to you all as well!

Bingo.
Happy Easter to all who are kindred spirits in Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord, for fulfilling scripture and resurrecting. <><

This holiday comforts us as we remember that suffering will pass and goodness will prevail.Only a Christian, someone who believes in Christ and his crucifixion and resurrection as our Savior, would find comfort from this holiday or understand that it represents the victory of good over evil.

Amen Ohio. It's a beautiful message, simply stated, and anyone should realize this is his belief as well. To try to find fault with a statement such as this only demonstrates the shallowness of those criticizing.
A Happy and Blessed Easter to you and everyone.

The President's beautiful and deeply meaningful radio address today.......
THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. This weekend, families across America will come together to celebrate Easter, and continue the observance of Passover. This holy season reminds us of the value of freedom, and the power of a love stronger than death.
This year, Easter and Passover have special meaning for the families of our men and women in uniform who feel so intensely the absence of their loved ones during these days. More than 250,000 American troops are serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom to protect our security and to free an oppressed people. Their families await their safe return, and our grateful nation remembers them in prayer.
Our whole nation has also shared in the happiness of learning that seven American prisoners of war were rescued in Northern Iraq earlier this week and are now safe. Thanks to the courage of our Marines and the help of Iraqis, their families have even more reason to celebrate this weekend.
After hearing the good news, the parents of rescued helicopter pilot Ronald Young, Jr. of Georgia, thanked people from across America and as far away as Australia and Japan for their cards and flowers and prayers. Kaye Young, Ronald's mother, said, "You can't believe the blessings that have come out of this. Even as sad as we were, as upset as we were to think that he was being held, there have been so many blessings." Mrs. Young continued, "All over this country, people cared so much about us and about our son."
As a nation, we continue to pray for all who serve in our military and those who remain in harm's way. We also pray for those who have lost people they love in this war. I have met with some of these grieving families, and I have seen their sorrow and their strength.
Corporal Henry Brown, a 22-year-old soldier from Natchez, Mississippi, was lost in battle earlier this month. After the news arrived, his best friend, Frank Woods, Jr., said this about Henry: "He believed God was working through him and he was part of the plan. I guess part of the plan now is God calling his soldier home."
America mourns those who have been called home, and we pray that their families will find God's comfort and God's grace. His purposes are not always clear to us, yet this season brings a promise: that good can come out of evil, that hope can arise from despair, and that all our grief will someday turn to joy, a joy that can never be taken away.
Laura and I wish you all a happy Easter and a blessed Passover. Thank you for listening.

Yes......those who understand through faith, the meaning of Easter and the resurrection, and the redemption that comes through Christ's death on the cross, can see that this truth comes through in the President's message, loud and clear.

"...the hope of life to come" - And you, Sir have given this Country AND the Iraqi people hope, through God's plan for your destiny.
"...though sorrow may last through the night, joy comes in the morning" - yes, the darkness of the night, as evidenced by the years we endured X42's treason, and the joy of the morning of the day you were inaugurated, Sir.
YOU MAKE US ALL PROUD TO BE AMERICANS...and I'm sure the good Lord is proud of your character as a leader, and as a man.
