UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- U.N. arms inspectors are ready to get back into Iraq to finish the job of looking for any chemical, biological or nuclear weapons but don't want to work under a new U.S.-led disarmament effort.
"We're not dogs on a leash," said chief U.N. inspector Hans Blix, who said it was key his teams remain independent. He said U.N. teams would be willing to confirm any discoveries of banned weapons the Americans report, but repeatedly noted that U.S. troops haven't found any such weapons thus far.

Oh, Hans; does this mean you won't let us drag you to the WMD sites, kicking and screaming, and rub your plantagenet nose in it?

In other news: American officials have accused Syria of possessing chemical weapons. And today Hans Blix, U.N. weapons inspector, offered to spend the next three months not finding any of their chemicals weapons too.

You're right, Hans. I think "jackals" is more appropriate.

but don't want to work under a new U.S.-led disarmament effort. Isn't he suppose to be NEUTRAL and do what the U.N. tells him to do? Since when does HE get to set ANY terms?
Besides, by the time they would ever let them back in there, he'll be officially "retired."
"We're not dogs on a leash," said chief U.N. inspector Hans Blix
You could have fooled me.

The UN, if they are wanted as inspectors anymore, will be free to go anywhere except Army posts.
