A friend of mine in Georgia e-mailed this to me. I haven't seen it posted before. It is a beautiful tribute to PFC. Lori Ann Piestewa. I thought y'all would want to see it.

To our Military -
Thank you for protecting US. Sleep well and safe. May you be protected. May your families' hearts be at ease.
Thank you to our Allies.

It is with a heavy heart that I must say goodbye to the Canteen.
I came here initially to show support for our military, active duty and veterans, and to be part of a support system for the family members of those who are deployed.
Over time, I've noticed the disappearance of our our active duty posters and several others, and today received an e-mail from one of my pen pals overseas. He said he had stopped visiting the site. That was the clincher. It makes one wonder just how many other active duty members have done the same.
I've also had several requests from folks to be removed from my ping list. Many were there in order to receive my personal "Thank You" each day, whether for their service or for enduring the sacrifices of being a family member of a deployed service man or woman. The rest were there because I simply wanted to say "hello".
My support for our military, past and present, and their families will never wane. There are many ways to show support and I'll continue to do so in those ways. I'm very thankful to the Canteen and to those who have posted several of the methods of support.
I'm also thankful for the opportunity to meet some very fine folks at the Canteen over the past several months. I'll see some of you on other threads.
Most of all, I'm thankful to those who have done their part to ensure we have the freedoms we enjoy in this country. The freedoms to choose our own courses in life. The choice I've made today wasn't an easy one at all but one I freely chose.
Take care, y'all.
