Jack Kemp on Hannity and Colmes criticizing Newt for criticizing Colin Powell NOW!

Jack Kemp is on Hannity and Colmes critizing Newt Gingrich for criticizing Colin Powell. Jack claims that Newt's statement plays into the hands of Daschle. Jack thinks that Newt's opinion was poorly timed. Newt thinks that we should have been tougher with our diplomacy, and I see nothing wrong with that.

Well, a lot of us think the problem is endemic to the State Department and not Colin Powell's fault. You can blame Powell as the man in charge, but no president or Secretary of State since Eisenhower has ever been able to straighten out the State Department. They are notorious.

I understand what Newt was trying to say. I also noticed a change in Colin Powell once he realized that "Old Europe" was screwing him over.

Well, that certainly wasn't edifying. Notice that Alan just let the repubs bash each other. Hannity is incapapble of maneuver in debate.

I admire Newt. But, I wish he hadn't used Daschle's words ~~~(failed diplomacy led to war)~~~ to shine a light on the weaknesses in Powell's operation. It gave Daschle way too much credibility and IMO did not serve the administration well.
Sometimes Newt is his own worst enemy.
