How can you offer exile to the author of 9/11? By pretending you don't really know that he's the author of 9/11, that's how.

I had heard a woman on Fox once, sorry I don't remember her name, but she stated that the terrorists who planned and flew the planes were in fact all Iraqi's.

She said that she had proof that while Iraq occupied Kuwait, they brought people in killed them, then assumed their identities.

Interesting hypothosis I think.

Yes, they are. Here in the U.S., they are just salivating at the prospect of branding President Bush a "liar" if no WMD are found in Iraq. I suppose the same is true in your country. To the enemies of Bush and Blair, there could be no explanation other than that they "deliberately lied" about the WMD. Sigh...

Without any WMD turning up, looks like the administration is going to Plan B.

The documents also give the lie to those who said that al-Qa'eda, the Islamic zealots, would have nothing to do with the brutally secular regime of Saddam. It appears that their shared hatreds - of America, of Saudi Arabia, of the West - outweighed such considerations.

This is an absolutely key and central point that should be shouted out from all the rooftops near Mclean and Foggy Bottom. Michael Ledeen in his dead-on book "The War Against The Terror Masters",

goes into great detail about the fatal mistakes our intelligence organizations have consistently made in assuming that Sunni's won't work with Shiites won't work with Secularists...BullSquat. Their overriding hatred is centered on the West - and the US and UK being those leaders - are their key targets.

He provides countless examples of how they work together, exchange information, and train and supply each other's terrorists organizations. Later, in their somewhat interrupted gameplan, they think they'll get around to raping, maiming and slaughtering each other, but right now - all their focus is on and against us.

"the dictator was colluding with the world's most ruthless terrorist operation."

Evidently the governments of France, Germany, and Russia were colluding with both.

the Bush administration was keen to draw attention to a report issued by the Czech Republic's interior ministry claiming that Mohamed Atta, the lead hijacker, had met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague earlier that year. The report later turned out to be false.

I wouldn't be sure about this. George Tenet and several others insisted that it was false, but according to numerous creditable news sources at the time, senior Czech intelligence officials continued to insist that it was true.

I don't trust George Tenet.

"Bush always suspected Saddam was behind 9/11"

Yet another example of the intelligence of George W. Bush.

"This belief has been the driving force behind Washington's determination to seek 'regime change' in Baghdad"

Correct. The United States conquered Iraq in order to defend America. The American people faced a choice: they could fight in the Middle East, now, when they had an overwhelming military advantage, or in America, within a few years, when these adversaries were armed with nuclear weapons. President Bush wisely chose now and there.

Do not forget: The stated intention of these people is to kill Americans and overthrow the United States government, and they have already attacked the U.S.

It did not turn out to be false.

Some in Czech intelligence, and in our own CIA, tried to discredit the report that Atta met the Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague. Why? I believe Laurie Mylroie and others think it is because they are trying to cover up their own intelligence failures.

Last I heard, top democratically elected Czech officials continue to stand by the report.

I'm still amazed that there have been people who doubted that all of the Islamic terrorists have been allies at some level all along.

on the other hand, there was absolutely no reason for 9.11 to occur.

remember, the u.s. airlines cancelled the air marshall program because they thought it was too expensive?

I always read that Mohammed Atta had indeed met with an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague. And yes, I heard the later report that it couldn't be confirmed. But does that mean that the meeting never occurred? The Czech officials believe the meeting occurred, even if our intelligence officials didn't have proof.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Until now, most of the evidence presented by Washington to prove the link between Saddam and al-Qa'eda has been inconclusive. In the weeks immediately after the September 11 attacks, the Bush administration was keen to draw attention to a report issued by the Czech Republic's interior ministry claiming that Mohamed Atta, the lead hijacker, had met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague earlier that year. The report later turned out to be false.

WRONG!...

FEBRUARY 24, 2003 : (CZECH AMBASSADOR TO UN, KMONICEK AFFIRMS THAT THE MEETING BETWEEN ATTA AND IRAQI INTELLIGENCE OFFICER AL ANI DID TAKE PLACE) A new affirmation by the Czech government that Mohamed Atta, the leader of the 9/11 plotters, met an Iraqi intelligence officer, Ibrahim al-Ani, in Prague in April 2001 .... in a signed statement dated 24 February, 2003, Hynek Kmonicek, the Czech ambassador to the UN, says his government 'can confirm that during the stay of Mohamed Atta ... there was contact with Mr al-Ani, who was on 22 April, 2001 expelled from the Czech Republic on the basis of activities not compatible with his diplomatic status [the usual euphemism for spying]'. Investigating judge Baltasar Garzon's indictment says Yusef Galan was part of a cell which organized bank robberies on behalf of al-Qaeda, and which had supported the group around Atta financially and logistically - "Spain links suspect in 9/11 plot to Baghdad," by David Rose, The Observer , see UK Guardian , Sunday March 16, 2003 What's more...

MARCH 2003 : (REPORTS SURFACE THAT 911 CONSPIRATOR GALAN WAS INVITED TO PARTY BY IRAQI AMBASSADOR TO SPAIN) An alleged terrorist accused of helping the 11 September conspirators was invited to a party by the Iraqi ambassador to Spain under his al-Qaeda nom de guerre, according to documents seized by Spanish investigators. Yusuf Galan, who was photographed being trained at a camp run by Osama bin Laden, is now in jail, awaiting trial in Madrid. The indictment against him, drawn up by investigating judge Baltasar Garzon, claims he was 'directly involved with the preparation and carrying out of the attacks ... by the suicide pilots on 11 September'. Evidence of Galan's links with Iraqi government officials came to light only recently, as investigators pored through more than 40,000 pages of documents seized in raids at the homes of Galan and seven alleged co-conspirators. - "Spain links suspect in 9/11 plot to Baghdad," by David Rose, The Observer , see UK Guardian , Sunday March 16, 2003

The only folks who have ever said the meeting between al Ani and Atta did not take place are "unnamed sources." The one time a source was named - by the NY Times, if my memory serves me- it turned out the 'journalist' had lied. Blatantly. The source made it known immediately that the paper was wrong.

Those who say it did take place are NAMED sources, and there's more than one of them.

If you look at the events and the people responsible for the 1993 bombing of the WTC, the events of the first Gulf war, the threats Saddam made against not only Bush 41 but also Bubba, then consider the awful totality of 9/11, one can only come to the conclusion that Saddam was an important player in some capacity, perhaps as a facilitator/initiator.

The more I read about all these events, and the people involved, and who they knew, and who they were related to, and various motivations and means, its like working a big jigsaw puzzle. And when the pieces come together they'll form a picture of Saddam Hussein.
