LONDON, England (AP) --Documents discovered in the bombed out headquarters of Iraq's intelligence service provide evidence of a direct link between Saddam Hussein's regime and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda terrorist network, a newspaper reported Sunday.

Papers found Saturday by journalists working for the Sunday Telegraph reveal that an al Qaeda envoy met with officials in Baghdad in March 1998, the newspaper reported.

My preference is that this not be revealed at this time. Let the RATs bitch and moan for about a year about "no evidence of links to Ben laden" and " no WMD found" Then summer of 2004 hit 'em with everything blowing the RATmedia alliance to smithereens.

This is a really bad idea. The longer the administration holds on to evidence of WMD, the longer the seeds of doubt will bloom into conspricay theories that whatever evidence will be found, will have been "planted." Get it?

This is huge.

The French collecting intelligence for Iraq after 9/11? The French supplying North Korea with material for their nuclear weapons program?

One suspects that these documents tell a very small portion of the entire story. There will surely be more to come.

>>Papers found Saturday by journalists working for the Sunday
>>Telegraph reveal that an al Qaeda envoy met with officialsin
>>Baghdad in March 1998

>And that automatically makes those papers factual?

I doubt also as the Sunday TelegrapH is a very cheap and populistic "news"paper. The Bristish Oberver writes about the same topic (www.observer.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,944586,00.html)

"Remarkable though it is, the find is unlikely to be the 'smoking gun' the US and Britain are looking for.

Representatives from the Mukhabarat are known to have travelled to Kandahar in the late Nineties to build links with al-Qaeda. Most analysts believe, however, that the ideological differences between the Iraqis and the terrorists were insurmountable.

The talks are thought to have ended disastrously for the Iraqis, as bin Laden rejected any kind of alliance, preferring to pursue his own policy of global jihad , or holy war. "

If one looks closely into the self-conception of the ideologies of Baathism and Al-Qaida, this seems to be closer to the truth.

"Ecspecially if one wants something to be real, one has to be on the guard when interpreting facts" (Niels Bohr)

Timing is the art of champions and in this instance nothing could be more effective than allowing the enemy to work itself into a lather of delusion then cut the ground out from under it.

Evidence has already been found. It just isn't in the form the media would like.

There's a pattern to all these SMOKING-GUN-FINALLY-FOUND type stories.

Seems to me their purpose is to instill in the sheeple the vague idea that indeed, there was a connection between Sadamm and bin laden, and indeed, SAdamm had WMD.

Just as to this day, most Americans believe that Waco happened because child abuse was going on inside the compound (or church, depending on your viewpoint) despite that accusation later being withdrawn.

It's all mind-control.

But that's what's needed, because the people cannot possibly know what's really going on--and if they did, most would be unable to reason from it.
