[history]
Iraqi civilians are preparing a complaint to present in court in Belgium accusing allied commander Gen. Tommy Franks and other U.S. military officials of war crimes in Iraq, according to the attorney representing the plaintiffs.
The complaint will state that coalition forces are responsible for the indiscriminate killing of Iraqi civilians, the bombing of a marketplace in Baghdad, the shooting of an ambulance, and failure to prevent the mass looting of hospitals, said Jan Fermon, a Brussels-based lawyer. He is representing about 10 Iraqis who say they were victims of or eyewitnesses to atrocities committed during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

I have an issue with universal juristiction. I dont think one nation should have a right to arrest people for 'crimes' that have been committed in a nation outside their borders. My Political Science Professor in the Fall at UCR Pinon Berlin gushes with glee about Pinochet and Universal Juristiction, but maybe we need to declare economic war on Belgum and make their economy just as bad as France . However universal jursistiction could be used against the axis of weasels. We could have congress pass universal juristiction against the French for licking Saddam's boots. I bet Chriac would love to have charges proposed on him.

I guess we coul hear no more of "Belgian Waffles" in America pretty soon. Instead, we could have "Baghdad Waffles".
To: Pokey78
belgium didn't have any problems with saddam's mass murders.
why are they wetting their panties over this?
To: Pokey78
The plaintiffs are all upset over an errent bomb hitting a market and killing some civilians, but they aren't saying a peep about Saddam killing 1.5 million of his own citizens. Great set of priorities.

This is the reason why the United States has not officialy joined the International Criminal court because certain groups will press frivulous charges on us. That's why.
And Belgum would love to see the little guy kick us in the shins.

Ya, know, I really gotta' start suing people left and right in Belguim.
Seems we could sue the French, Germans and Russians for their complicity with Saddam a hundred ways over.
What's the filing fee?

Actually, I wonder if there's any evidence of Belgium complicity in Iraq. Let's get arrest warrants on the Belgium prime minister.

belgium didn't have any problems with saddam's mass murders. Belgium is a charter member of the "Axis of Weasle's" along with France, Germany, and Russia.
They, like their warped American leftist cousins, see America as the great evil in the world.

The plaintiffs are all upset over an errent bomb hitting a market and killing some civilians I seem to recall that it was determined that the bomb wasn't even from the coalition. It was Iraqi AA, IIRC. Does somebody have better info on that?
Why don't they sue the looters?
What do you expect from one of the founding members of the axis of weasels.
To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
There is some evidence that the "errent bomb" was either an Iraqi missle or a car/suitcase type bomb that they planted for the adverse "civilian casualty" PR.
