What began as a straightforward search for links on a subject I have never researched before- Waco- quickly took me down stange and dark passages into the close of the last century.
Be sure to follow the "links within the links" to get the full story.

I have no use for the Branch Davidians. I would not join their club.
Having said that, My question is, did they represent a threat to society and had they hurt anyone. The answer is, no. If people leave me alone, I leave them alone. The feds had no sound reason to be there, and not in the numbers and attitude they brought with them.

I'll never forget what I heard on Mike Reagan's show about 5 years ago- after going over stories similar to the ones above, he asked:
"Where's the outrage?"
The first caller up had the killer answer:
"Waco was about the instilling of fear,
so there would be no outrage..."

"Waco was about the instilling of fear, so there would be no outrage..." Brilliant!
But I would expand it to, "Waco was about the instilling of fear, demonizing the victims, and glorifying the perpetrators so there would be no outrage..."

I agree with you. By the way, I'll never forget that caller as long as I live- he had the perfect reply.

My personal "tinfoil hat conspiracy theory" (that I've never seen published anywhere) is this:
IF full-auto AR-15/M-16 conversion parts somehow found their way into the BD 'compound', then they were ones manufactured by ParkOMeter (Web Hubbell's father-in-law) and destined for Mena to be swapped for drugs -- under Clinton's "Industrialization of Arkansas" program. And the raid (in addition to being an ATF publicity stunt) was designed to recover the evidence ...and "CBA".

Think this will be mentioned in Hillary's "complete and candid" memoirs?

I forgot to mention... the other night, last week there was a double take on Discovery Times channel on Ruby Ridge and the OKC bombing. I wasn't sure if they were also going to cover Waco, but I guess not, never saw it. They really gave what seemed to be an honest accounting of the screw-up that was Ruby Ridge, but spun the hell out of the OKC bombing.

"Waco was about the instilling of fear, so there would be no outrage..." There was enough outrage that the next standoff, with the Montana militia, ended peacefully.

By the way they weren't called The Montana Milita, were they? It was a group called Free Men. Or Freemen. If they ever called themselves militia then I missed it. If not then the media/gov propaganda worked...on you.

It was a group called Free Men. Or Freemen. I stand corrected, your snottiness aside.
Also, the Feds allowed the Texas Rangers to handle the Republic of Texas, another bunch of nuts who thought they were actually the government of the state. Richard McLaren, the leader, is in prison for a very long time.

What was snotty about my post!? I gave leeway for the fact that I might have missed some information on the subject while demonstrating that on the other hand, if I were right, you had succumbed to the very thing that was intended as the larger objective of Ruby Ridge, Waco, etc..
Nothing snotty about pointing that out. I'm sure you use other poster's words to make your points all the time.

if I were right, you had succumbed to the very thing that was intended as the larger objective of Ruby Ridge, Waco, etc..I succumbed to nothing. I know exactly what happened at Waco, the result of which is the government put the brakes on its out-of-control FBI and ATF.
I made a mistake on which group was involved in the standoff in Montana. Nothing more than that.
Let's drop it.
