“I would expect that he would pass,” Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, said during a domestic policy briefing with reporters last week.

Then why is he yelling so much ?

Orin is up now

So the plan is to back up the toilet and hope Americans smell the lib/Dem stench, eh?

This whole thing makes me spitting mad. With war winding down, the Prez needs to make this a HUGE deal with the American people. I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say it's bigger than the tax cut amount. At least on the latter, the lib/dems are singing from the same songsheet, albeit offkey.

Good post, thanks.

The Dems want Prado brought up so they can confirm him and get the Hispanic lobbies off their back as they continue to block Estrada.

Yeah, right, they're refusing to confirm Estrada because the Admistration won't turn over documents the Senate isn't supposed to have (and have NEVER had in the past. Before that it was because, as Chuck Shumer told Sean Hannity, he wouldn't answer ANY questions. This after Estrada answered about 100 questions in person and another 25 in writing.

I like the idea of filabustering and forcing the dems to defend their defeat of the latino judge as well as any others. Let everyone stand up and be counted.
A recess appointment isn't a forever type of thing. But to get them in there making decisions until the dems lose big time in 04 is good for the time being.
Oh by the way the dems will lose big time, just ask Mr. Bush. He's a lot smarter then you'd think.

Thanks, Howlin. It looks like it is time to go to "Operation Judicial Selection Freedom." I am now, with the war behind us, warming to the idea of 24/7 on these nominees. I do think the Republicans have to be careful though since the polls show the economy and health care to be important domestic issues. There won't be great national sympathy for holding up the entire Senate for judicial nominees. That's the bait the Dems want the Republicans to hit on. But I wonder what the Hispanics in New York might think come election time and Estrada has never been voted on, even though he would be confirmed. There is a method to this madness.

I think you are right there .. but they can debate all the issues without giving up the debate on the Judges can't they?

Why haven't the GOP made more of an issue of attorney-client privilege here? If the Dems want to pierce attorney-client priviilege when it suits them, force them to try to pass a Constitutional Ammendment revoking attorney-client privilege.

I'm not sure why they haven't but I know they've said it wasn't going to be given out. They've even suggested the democrats go and talk to some of the others he worked with in the Clinton Justice Dept and get info from them. I'm sure they have some method to their madness of dealing with them but I have no idea what it is.....
