Some of the best quotes from the Republicans were in the last half hour. I think they finally had enough and started to tell it like it was. They told the dems they didn't like their props and they didn't like them mentioning lobbiests.

The funniest remark was when the dem quoted Ronald Reagan and the Republican said they might as well mention him on the Minnesota floor because that's what it's changing to.

Priceless.

Both the graphic and, more importantly, the vote, that is.

for some reason they blamed Texas

Oh Really! Imagine that. :)

Did they mention Florida too? They got CCW well before Texas, and neither became the "Gunshine State" as predicted. No more blood than before ran in the streets of old San Antonio, nor of even older St. Augustine, in fact somewhat less than before the CHL/CCW laws passed.

Imagine that!

the sheriff would be the right person to decide if you need one.

Not surprising, Iowa has long been a relative hotbed of liberal policies. I guess the notion that YOU might the best person to decide if you needed a concealed weapon, caused them to recoil in horror, and probalby go outside and throw up.

The only time they mentioned Florida was when they went down the list to for the licenses that were more stringent than Minnesota's.

They never mentioned Vermont.

Fancy that.

Pat Pariseau's response was that she wasn't aware that O.J. had applied for a permit.

And suggested that his wife could have used one.

Touche! (oops, pardon the French)

Sen. Jane Ranum suggested that because former football Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murder after the 1994 slayings of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, he could get a permit in Minnesota even though a civil jury later held him liable.

If Nicole was "carrying", there may have been no need for a murder trial.

That's why, since 1986, every police chief and local Sheriff in every state has refused to support any CCW Bill.

That's not true. Most appointed police chiefs oppose, but many elected Sherrifs support. Mostly those outside the large (whatever that might mean in a particular state) metropolitan areas. IIRC, my sheriff supported CCW in Texas, of course he also routinely signs applications for federal machine gun tax stamps too. :)

The crown jewel would be Washington D.C. I would imagine the press would go absolutly insane if that happened.

Then the editors and the reporters of the Washington Post would be the first in line to get their's.

I suppose I shouldn't have made such a blanket statement like that. I have a Constable that will sign off on Class Three's.

There are just so many that don't want to lose that cash cow.

They whined, cried, threatened, yelled and for some reason they blamed Texas every chance they could.

They insulted us, insulted NASCAR (yes they did), said all republicans are beer swilling, gun toting yokels, who want nothing more than to go around shooting each other while we're sitting drunk on our front porch.

It was an affront to a large portion of our citizenry and I personally was very disturbed that the Democraps stooped as low as they did. I honestly didn't think they would go that far.

Cowboys. Don't forget they insulted the cowboys.

It's a darn good thing they didn't insult apple pie. Someone would have gotten hurt.

Kansas has a wonderful history of gun control, in the cattle trail days in wichita you either checked your shooting Iron or you stayed on the west side of the Arkansas river. Kansas doesn't have concealed carry because the state is largely conservative and agricultural who see no need to be able to carry a handgun concealed when a shotgun in the back of your pickup is sufficient enough and Liberal whiny city types who say "Not in my town". Add to that governors who lie about signing CCW to get into office and you get a serious no win situation...we have been trying to get CCW here for years...Open carry is allowed in rural areas but they look at you funny if you go carting a pistol around on your belt, plus cities can pass their own ordinances that prohibit carrying openly in the city limits--where it might actually be needed...I carry concealed--thats right I break the law--almost every place except my full time job..I work in a firearms related industry part time and "follow home" robberies are not unheard of. Wichita has a serious crime problem that our police chief wants swept under the table so only the worst news items get any coverage. I estimate that 50-75% of our regular customers carry concealed--smart folks from a defense view not so great from the laws point of view.
Sorry about my rambling style...i tend to write train of thought...:)

Someone on the High Road website said the Governor already signed the Bill. No link but he said it was on the news.
