President's Remarks
video image view

This country has many challenges. We will not deny, we will not ignore, we will not pass along our problems to other Congresses, to other presidents, and other generations. (Applause.) We will confront them with focus and clarity and courage...

Sending Americans into battle is the most profound decision a President can make. The technologies of war have changed; the risks and suffering of war have not. For the brave Americans who bear the risk, no victory is free from sorrow. This nation fights reluctantly, because we know the cost and we dread the days of mourning that always come.

We seek peace. We strive for peace. And sometimes peace must be defended. A future lived at the mercy of terrible threats is no peace at all. If war is forced upon us, we will fight in a just cause and by just means -- sparing, in every way we can, the innocent. And if war is forced upon us, we will fight with the full force and might of the United States military -- and we will prevail. (Applause.)

State of the Union Address by President George W. Bush

"It's all about oil..."

That was only half of it. Someone called President Bush the "Greatest Hitler the world has ever seen..."

WHAT?! Their hatred must so intense that they can't even think.

As much as I loathe the Clintons, I certainly would have not made the comparision. Stunning!

The handshaking went on longer than the speech, or so it seemed to me.

At the end of the speech, FOX said it was about 20 minutes (maybe they said 22 minutes). If the President started promptly at 9:00 (and he's always prompt), I saw him still shaking hands at 9:55....I think that's when I last saw them filming him on the carrier......so, he was shaking hands, by that time, for 35 minutes. : )

with W, we don't have to worry about him pinching her behind while he does it! It is SO NICE to have a president I don't have to be ashamed of. I LOVE this guy!

I do too, Klintoon's a pervert....I wouldn't have wanted a hug from him, it would feel like he was groping. GW's not like that, at all. And, it never looks fake when he hugs. Did you notice, too, the young woman he hugged, when he went past her, to continue shaking hands, you could see, on the left side of the screen, she was almost jumping up and down still that THE PRESIDENT HUGGED HER! You could see she was still excited he gave HER a hug! Too cool.

Nope, it's NAVY One! *grin*

Yeah, I cracked up when I read that today. Completely accurate, mind you, but an S-3 just doesn't seem to compare with a 747 or Marine chopper.

I'm still waiting to see the 747 do the catapult launch.

Yah. Randy Quaid. I love that movie, and isn't it interesting, if you think about it (this came up because of Bill PULLMAN), Bill PAXTON has probably played in more blockbusters than any actor in history, and yet few people know him as a "star." He was in, easily, 4-5 of the top grossing pictures of all time, including "Twister," "Titanic," "True Lies," and "Aliens."

Thanks for the correction. I had forgotten that some COD's had gone out earlier. If she'd gone out on an S-3, she would have been in a flight suit.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Thank you for your service to our nation. Had I been serving when Slick was elected (I retired in 1991), I'd have resigned also.

The America of today is presented to you by the grandchildren of the World War Two generation. In the worst show of mass rebellion possible, this new generation has become a horror to its parents by believing in the founding ideals of this country and willingly dispersing to the corners of the Earth to bring true freedom to all. These men and women are not willing to be the vicTIMS the 60s generation wants. They are vicTORS.

I have posted many times about the 30 something generation and our 20 something generation re their belief in this country and themselves. I have two 30 something sons, and they and their friends refuse to be victims. They are very patriotic.

My wife and I are in our 60's, and we never became victims and have loved our country. It so great to have these wonderful young Americans to pass the torch to. While watching our wonderful sailors on the Abraham Lincoln yesterday, I felt their pride in the tremendous job they did for America, the world, their families and themselves.

Olbermann is the reason I refuse to watch PMSNBC, despite its otherwise often reasonable coverage. He is a cowardly toad, and a cheap-shot artist of the worst kind.

What is the Russian Medal they award for their crewmen when one of their rust buckets go down?

Yes, this was deliberate and reflects something that Victor Hanson said in one of his columns earlier in the year: that when we look back, 50 years from now, we will see that the Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Iraq were all "battles" in a longer war against Muslim terrorism.

Yes, Barbara was really beautiful, wasn't she?

There's a photo of her around somewhere, in a cute little sundress/swimsuit outfit (I have it, maybe I'll locate and post somewhere). Haven't seen that one in a while though!

Just heard on Fox that the pilot who flew the Pres, Cmdr Lussier, yesterday actually hit the first wire when landing, not the last one!

The first cable is called the fourth cable, but it's the first one in position, so it was a picture-perfect landing, and the Fox guy said everyone should know that, because there was talk yesterday that he hit the last one!

Have You Forgotten

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

CHORUS 2
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yes, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

WE WILL NEVER FORGET
