MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican authorities are investigating whether some of the unsolved murders of hundreds of women in northern Mexico in the past decade were committed by organ traffickers seeking body parts.
According to a statement from the Mexican Attorney General's Office (PGR) issued on Wednesday, authorities are investigating in particular the killings of 14 women in the border city of Ciudad Juarez who appear to have been killed for their organs.
Authorities were not available to comment on Thursday.
As many as 250 women have been killed and an equal number have disappeared in Juarez, on the U.S.-Mexican border across from El Paso, Texas, since 1993. Most of those cases are unsolved. Most of the murder victims were strangled and raped.
``While there are several lines of investigation, this is the most solid up to now because details have been obtained that support the hypothesis that these women were murdered to remove their organs and traffic in them,'' the PGR said in a statement regarding the 14 cases.
Authorities said they opened the line of investigation after they arrested a suspect who had in his possession a mobile telephone belonging to one of the murder victims.
``One of these people has provided information being used to continue the investigation,'' the PGR said.
Mexican and U.S. authorities set up a cross-border hotline and advisory committee in March to help solve the string of murders. Mexico asked the FBI last September for assistance in the long-running murder probe.
Numerous arrests have been made in the Juarez cases, but the murders and disappearances have continued.

The human race continues to forever strive for a new low in their mad dash to the destruction of humanity in man.But ain't it ironic that folks are being murdered to save the lives of others. I can't tell which is worse, that kind of depravity, or the reckless meaningless killing of some for the heck of it, like the DC Snipers.

Uh....you think the Mexican police might notice if the women were missing body parts, or had large incisions in their abdomens. Sounds like a reporter looking to drum up a story.

I don't think they are being murdered for organ donations. They are missing certain organs ---like hearts but there is a lot of satanic worship in Mexico especially along the (open) border. The Aztecs also were very well known for removing the still-beating hearts from their sacrifice victims. There is no way that the organs are being properly handled to take to a hospital for transplant purposes.

Actually the bodies are often very horribly mutilated and carved up. But also they find them out in the desert where the wild coyotes and wild dogs are and chances are they're eating some of the body parts. It's very very gruesome ---and what's worse is how the Mexican government has ignored this for so many years.

What is also shocking is that so many see nothing wrong with if it gives them what they need - a body part.

Mexico asked the FBI last September for assistance in the long-running murder probe. This is BS. The FBI and Border Patrol in El Paso has been offering its help with these murders since 1996 at least.
