May 04, 2003 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- President Bush is far ahead of the three most popular Democrats in head-to-head matchups, even though the public has concerns about his economic leadership and his empathy for ordinary people, according to a poll released Saturday.
Bush leads Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman and Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt by almost identical margins in the three matchups. The president gets the support of six in 10 while the Democratic candidate gets the support of just over a third, according to an ABC News-Washington Post national poll.
When Democrats and those who lean Democratic were asked who they preferred to be their nominee, 29 percent said Lieberman, 19 percent chose Gephardt and 14 percent picked Kerry.
The others were in single digits. Former Illinois Sen. Carol Moseley Braun had 6 percent, North Carolina Sen. John Edwards 4 percent, Al Sharpton 3 percent, Florida Sen. Bob Graham 3 percent, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean 3 percent, and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich 2 percent.
The poll indicated a possible opening for Democrats because half of those polled said the economy was worse now than when the president took office. Nearly half said he doesn't understand the problems of average people.
But for now, Bush's overwhelming support on national security and homeland security appeared to trump those concerns.
Recent state polls of the Democratic race have shown Gephardt ahead in Iowa, Lieberman ahead in South Carolina and Kerry ahead in New Hampshire. A new Mason-Dixon poll of New Hampshire voters taken April 23-26 gave Kerry the lead with 28 percent, with Dean at 21 percent, Lieberman at 14 percent and Gephardt at 11 percent. Other candidates were in the low single digits and 23 percent were undecided. The New Hampshire poll of 327 likely Democratic primary voters had an error margin of plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.
The ABC-Post poll of 1,105 adults was taken April 27-30 and has an error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points, larger for subgroups like Democrats.

Seems to me that President Bush has shown enormous empathy for "ordinary people". Such as the 3000 + ordinary people who were murdered on 9/11.

I saw a similar result recently in a poll taken of dims in CA.
Lieberrmans #s show show a reluctance for dims to back John Heinz-Kerry... but it's early yet.
Kerry and Dean will do well in NH and siphon off Lieberman and Gepardts numbers. Look for the pack to tighten up.
Hillary waits in the shadows... biding her time!

Watch them nominate Kerry or Dean. That will make all those who are left in that party, like Miller, jump and come over to the good side. The whole demoncratic party is history. If it wasnt for the big city hand out vote, they wouldnt be but nothing.

Not wide enough yet. 67% not one bit less, is what it will take to have the Democrats finally succumb to reality, and admit that Bush does have a mandate. Reality is, that 33% will vote Democrat no matter what, but if they are the only ones standing on that side, no "independents", no "vote for the man, not for the party" switch-hitters, their ranks are pretty thin. Of course, they could further divide between the "yellow dog" Democrats, and those who would only come out for a reliably "Green" spokesperson.
Certain among us have expressed fears that the venomous viper of a spouse to the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001" will step to the helm and may have a plan to get herself into the Democrat nomination race for Presidential candidate at the last minute. Do not panic, or show any signs of trembling. SHE IS VULNERABLE! When driven into a corner, she jumps into the "poor abused woman" mode. Images of the World Trade Center being struck by a captured airliner, the smoking remains, the statue of Saddam Hussein being pulled down in Firdos Square in Baghdad, the plane landing on the deck of the Abraham Lincoln, flashed in the background as a montage, makes the contrast too vivid to be contested. She would be seen as weak and placating, and as encouraging further attacks on the US. The "poor abused woman" is in no position to protect the rest of us. Nor shall she ever be.

the economy was worse now than when the president took office. Nearly half said he doesn't understand the problems of average people. How ridiculous; this is the fault of the obstructionist Rats in the Senate (Daschole), blocking tax relief and important bills from being passed----because THEY WANT the economy to tank, and they DON'T CARE about the problems of the average people. All they care about and want is control of the White House, Senate, and House.

Hillary is NOT running in 2004 no matter howmuch Newsmax tries to pimp that story. Since it would take a near economic depression to make "W" vulnerable, not a single RAT senator would have a leg to stand on. Either:
1) The tax break will get passed relatively soon and the economy will heat up; or
2) The tax break won't get passed and the RAT Senator trying to unseat Bush will have voted against it and be seen as the obstructionist, anti-american, party over people, politics first, selfish slimeballs that they are.
That said, the ONLY way Bush loses is if a third party candidate turns up to siphon votes away from "W". A RAT or Green Party third candidate doesn't hurt.

In the upcoming democratic primary (2004) ...
BIG AL NEEDS OUR HELP! - Register as a democrat and vote for Crazy Al!
Rev. Al Sharpton is officially running for president in 2004.
During the May 3, 2003 demoncrap debate in Columbia, S.C., our man Al stated The way to move a donkey is to slap the donkey, and Im going to slap the donkey until the donkey kicks.
Lets help Crazy Al slap the donkey until it kicks.
Assume GW has the Republican nomination sewn up. Its time for all good republicans, libertarians, and independents to stand up and be counted. Lets take a page from Sen. McCains play book. Prior to the 2004 democratic presidential primary in your state, re-register as a democrat and vote for Al Sharpton!
Wouldnt it be great if Crazy Al won! At the very least, lets ensure he gets prime time speaking rights at the 2004 nationally televised democratic convention. You gotta love it. Line up, sign up, and send this to all your like-minded friends.
In case youd like to send Big Al a donation:

Here are two topics that show slanted news and great hope for Bush. Only half the people think the economy is worse than when he took office and less than half think he does not understand the problems of the average person.
The economy would not have to do much to get 60% to think it is as good or better than when he was elected and if a few more working people think President Bush has a working man's attitude towrd life's problems...say good night Gracie.
