People in Chinatown are richer than the rest of the world. They know how to save and how much to push the worth of their money. Sounds like Hitlery is going to buy the Chinese vote by making them indebted to her. That's providing she can get them federal funding. Shut up, Hitlery! Your needless rhetoric hurts my ears.

Are there any SARS cases in New York?

I can't understand why a couple blocks of NYC would need a half a million bucks from taxpayers for a problem that doesn't exist.

She should just invest $5 in cattle futures and donate the proceeds to Chinatown......

Oops, sorry. Last I heard it was one possible case in a New Rochelle High School. Thanks for setting me straight.

Actually, while Her Royal Heinous does 'represent' Upstate NY, as a US Senator, she supposedly 'represents' the whole state.

Sad, but true.

Let's see, that would come to 4,143,550 Chinese Yuan Renminbi. I can't afford it.

Uhhh... Doubt whether Pataki will run for a FOURTH term in '06. But that's a long ways away for both him and her.

She'll keep a much higher profile running for re-election to the Senate. It would look tacky to start her '08 run for president immediately upon taking office as governor, but after seven years as senator, not so opportunistic. Plus, as governor, she'd be accountable for making things work, a definite liability for an incompetent such as her.

They know how to save and how much to push the worth of their money....they try like HE!! not to pay sales tax at our store. "Please mister, me no pay tax"they tell my husband, just before he tells them to get out of his store and his country if they don't want to pay taxes. Then he spouts "I pay tax, YOU pay tax, you see that street outside? TAXES payed for that street and those lights," he continues as they are running out of his store.

Hmm, illegal gun trade must be down. A friend of mine has a great story about going to Chinatown...

I lived near Chinatown for years, loved it and loved the people there. They were heavily impacted by 9-11....but...Chinatown has always been an all cash and all "off the books" type of economy where a 1/2 mil is absolutely nothing to the people who run that place.

A few years back there was an article about a new bank opening there. Their plan was to have 60 mil in deposits by the end of 6 months....they had 60 mil in under 3 weeks.

get over it Jake...it's Chinatown! ;o)

Clinton says she and other officials would send a letter to the development corporation requesting about $500-thousand dollars to promote tourism and provide consumer discounts in Chinatown.

Give them 500 grand and they give us a discount?

Why stop there? How about giving them ten million dollars so that they can give away their overpriced cheesy tourist souveneir crap for free?

How about giving my local car dealer 500 grand so that he can give me a discount too?

How about giving the local supermarket 500 grand so that I can get a discount on food?

Where does it end?

Based on my informal survey of cabbies, NY's immigrant Moslem population is down by about 40% since 9/11.
