Check out the Univ health center stats...on every university in America VD is epidemic and has been since the 60s
It almost seems as higher-education and morality are mutually exclusive

For example, among blacks there were 1,444 cases of chlamydia per 100,000 population in 2002, 584 cases per 100,000 among Hispanics and 97 for whites.

Wow! What's up with dat?

No Schadenfreude from me. It is sometimes in the places you least expect something like this (all those Norwegian batchelor farmers Garrison Keillor is always talking about? -- whodda thunk? Or those kids who are all above average? Go on!) that decent kids getting into their first serious adult relationship find themselves infected: we know a girl who was infected by her new husband, whose own experiences were so limited as to be able to pinpoint the "giver".

All we need is more Sex Education and condoms. That way we can get the STD figures nationally from 1 in 5 to 1 in 2. I'm glad we have drugs like Valtrex (sp?) now so it helps those with genital herpes to feel better about themselves while spreading it around.

When will people learn that abstinence is the only true form of prevention?

Health officials could not explain the sudden overall increase. They have been concerned about syphilis for more than a year because recent increases were documented almost exclusively among gay men, officials said.

Isn't it obvious? At least for syphilis, now that AIDS is seen as survivable the homos are going nuts again with anyone and everyone.

After declining in the early 1990s, sexually transmitted disease (STD) rates began to rise in the past five years

This is about the time the blue dress debuted. Another Clinton legacy.

New cases of sexually transmitted diseases in Minnesota jumped 19 percent last year in what state health officials say is an epidemic.

An obvious result of the proposed tax cut. < /sarcasm>

Dr. Peter D'Ascoli, medical director for Planned Parenthood of Minnesota/South Dakota, said young people are confused by the mixed messages they hear about about sex and birth control. Some are told that condoms don't prevent sexually transmitted diseases, he said, although they do.

Uhh, no, condoms don't prevent all sexually transmitted diseases. Herpes & HPV come to mind...

Sounds like a problem you should be discussing with your government.
