I have been in MA only once -- 1971, and Edward Brooke was still the senator, not JFK II.

No matter what everyone thinks, the problem is simple. And simply bad. Even when the media is prevented from giving "their take" on the results in a presidential election on the East Coast when workers are leaving their offices to vote on the West Coast you still have the problem of simple voting in every election. When the workers get off work in the two cities in California that "made" a difference (Los Angeles and San Francisco), the workers that went to vote at the polls after work in at least one of those cities, San Francisco, were told that the polling places were out of ballots.

two considerations:

1. Your premise assumes that the RATS permit Bustamante the Gov's position. This also assumes that Bustamante can appease Bill Lockyer and John Garamendi's camps. I doubt that Bustamante can offer that much to Lockyer or Garamendi. So, my assessment is that the Democrats can not pull off the Davis resignation play. Most importantly, I don't think Gray Davis believes that he can lose his seat.

2. If your premise is correct, who holds the Lt. Gov. seat? Wouldn't a special election be required for the Lt. Gov. seat anyway?

Yes, however, that would not be helpful. You will slow down the recall effort if you are submitting multiples of your own name.

The real task is to gather signatures in your own area.

Download the petition and start having people sign!

Good analysis. The Davis-recall effort is a no-win for California Republicans, if there were such a thing. It's just a bad, bad idea. The fact of the matter is, as badly as California needs an overhaul in its leadership, the state-GOP needs it more.

California is doomed for the forseeable future. Might as well let it tank on the Democrats' watch. Maybe it will eventually give rise to a viable second party in the state.

dear brownie,

WE ARE IN A WATERGATE situation!

The man didn't order 250,000 doses of baby vaccines for our state and left our state's kids out to dry!

I was wondering who the Greens would run.

Is Jerry Brown a Green Party member or is he still a DemocRat?

I'm in Los Angeles.

But I have a baby daughter, now. And I have no intention of raising her here.

OK, I won't do that then!

We should not leave the state that is rightfully ours.

Retreat is not an option.

Revolution is the only option.

Ours is a peaceful, democratic revolution...called RECALL GRAY DAVIS.

(Did you see my comment about vaccines?)

Are Freepers putting their support behind the recall?

For all the complaining the Freepers do, I sure hope they will actually move forwards and demonstrate the chutzpah to actually move on the offensive.

Do we have a choice?

In 2004, the media can work its magic and deceit again and solidify the stranglehold of the socialists. The CA GOP has continued to flounder and appears as clueless as ever.

Yes, it is much better for the infection to be contained in California and fester there. Hopefully, California will vote for W. in 2004 and throw out Barbara Boxer from the Senate. A successful recall would lance the boil and decrease pressure. The DemocRAT candidate for President could then win the 2004 race in California and drag Boxer along to win a third term in the Senate.

OK, let me try this again. Wonderful ideas, but simple problem...

Voter fraud = Republicans are not allowed to vote.

(Of the two cities that "made" a difference in California, Los Angeles and San Francisco) in San Francisco, workers going to the polls after work were told at the polling stations that there were no more ballots.

Voter manipulation = on the day of the presidential election, I heard in the taxi on radio at 5:08p. west coast time on my way to vote that Gore had already won.

I guarantee you the illegals' kids aren't getting the short end of the needle if there is a limited supply of vaccinations to be had.

On the other side of that topic (vaccines), my own doctor couldn't confirm yes or no if aborted babies are used to make them. Which leaves me very uncomfortable.

NO, aborted babies are not used in any way in making vaccines. I dunno who started that idiotic idea, but it's shear stupidity!

And, NO, illegal alien kids were not getting vaccinated. The dosage shortages affected ALL in the state.
