Fox Pulling Cable News To The Right *BARF ALERT*

Perhaps the most obvious sign that the war on terrorism has changed the whole game for cable news networks was the recent decision by MSNBC to award a weekly talk show to a man named Michael Savage.
Savage, whose politics are as far to the right as any commentator this side of G. Gordon Liddy, runs the unfortunately named program "Savage Nation." Positioned at the center of a set that would embarrass the host of a public-access cable TV show, Savage gestures and grunts and mocks his opponents (Democrats, hated liberals, anyone who is ambivalent about the Bush administration's diplomatic and military policies) in schoolyard manner. In the spirit of a true talk-radio ideologue - that is, after all, how he got his start - Savage will link any pair of seemingly unrelated issues in the name of making a "point."

I wasn't able to locate an e-mail address for Courant Staff Writer Kevin Canfield (the Courant does a great job in hiding these e-mail addresses, apparently). You can send "feedback" on this form:

Of course the fact that the cable networks are businesses that want to make money and therefore target consumer demand is something alien to these ideological Socialists.

Fox Pulling Cable News To The Right *BARF ALERT*Considering where CNN (and the networks) are coming from (the socialist DNC far left), nearly anything Fox did would pull cable news toward the center. What's this author's problem? Is he a liberal scumbag or something?
To: Paleo Conservative
"Fox is pulling everybody into expressing an ideological view," says Michael Wolff, media critic for New York magazine. "But even more important, they're pulling everybody into expressing a conservative view. It's not so much a change in the structure of journalism as it is a change in the balance." That says everything you need to know about Michael Wolff.

Anything to the liberal left of center is "far right" for these socialists.
Their perpetual whining is getting a bit tiresome, don't you think? lol

"The problem is not that Fox is a conservative network - I think there ought to be a conservative network - but that they refer to themselves as `fair and balanced' and [assert that] everyone who disagrees with them is pushing some kind of left-wing agenda," Naureckas says.
The truth hurts.

"Perhaps the most interesting - and least noted - development in cable news has been the emergence of daily jack-of-all-trades programming that provides news commentary and humor, like MSNBC's prime-time "Countdown With Keith Olbermann." The onrushing tide of news - more than any of us can digest - has made an evening wrap-up program a relative necessity. Jack Shafer, media critic for Slate magazine, says Olbermann's show is the 21st-century answer to the evening newspaper."I'm sorry, but I can't take anyone who likes Keith Olbermann seriously.
