Lieberman Urges Bush to Pressure Cuba. (Ha, Ha, The left wing is gonna love this).

In a live broadcast to Cuba, Democratic candidate for president Joe Lieberman urged the Bush administration Thursday to ratchet up the pressure on Fidel Castro's communist government and help the island nation's dissidents.

The senator from Connecticut called on Bush in an interview with Radio Marti "to be very aggressive" in implementing the policies the president outlined in a May 2002 speech to provide American aid for the development of civil society in Cuba.

"And what does that mean? Specific support for the dissidents, the freedom fighters in Cuba and not stepping back at all in our position that we will not rest until this regime falls and the Cuban people rise to enjoy their freedom," Lieberman said in a brief interview on the federally funded, pro-democracy broadcasting station that beams into Cuba.

Lieberman told listeners in Spanish, "I have always fought for a free Cuba."

In response to reporters, Lieberman criticized the Bush administration's follow through on the 2002 speech. "There has been not adequate support particularly of the creation of civil society in Cuba and not adequate support of the dissidents," Lieberman said.

A White House spokesman did not immediately return a phone call.

In recent weeks, the Cuban government has executed three men convicted of terrorism in the attempted hijacking of a ferry filled with passengers bound for the United States. There were no injuries on board. Cuban prosecutors have also convicted 75 dissidents and imposed sentences from six years to 28 years.

Lieberman, the 2000 Democratic vice presidential candidate, voted for the 1996 Helms-Burton Act that tightened the U.S. economic embargo against Cuba.

Cuban-Americans tend to vote Republican in state and national elections and have been active supporters of President Bush and his brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

If Holy Joe gets the nomination, he's dead against Bush. The left wing already hates him. If Dean, Edwards, and Kerry with Gephardt weren't splitting the base, he would be getting killed. If he gets the nominee, the greens will put somone up against him, hollywood is not going to commit suicide and endorse him, and the left wing hates jews as it is, they would either not vote, or vote green. (if they don't vote, the senate will be ours, big time, and the house will be in even bigger republican hands). He's trying to play a game, and its a dangerious one. Also bear in mind, according to the ADL, a majority of hispanic and blacks voters (people who actually do vote and have voted) would never vote for anyone jewish on the top of a presidential ticket.

Whoever gets the nomination is dead against Bush, that's a foregone conclusion.

But it's already been determined, IMO. It's going to be Mr. Theresa Heinz at the top of the ticket. Hillary's saving her DNC pennies for '08, so they'll let Kerry blow his wife's inheritance on his doomed campaign. He's already indicated he's willing to do it, so that should be enough for the DNC.

Lieberman's dead in the water, has been from the start. His candidacy would just ensure the lowest black-Democrat turnout in political history (but they're not racist, or anything).

Silly Joe think the Cubans vote will get him over the hump. As if this election is going to come down to Florida again...

Man these people are dense.

Right now, last polls that I saw, he was leading. Kerry and Edwards and Dean have split the party apart. Gephardt is doing good among his rank and file and Sharpton and the other woman that was recruited to hurt sharpton are going to be drawing alot of the black votes away from everyone else. Let the big names split, and just keep his own small loyal base. Him as nominee guarantees us, a even bigger grab at the senate and the house. We could be theoretically fillibuster proof if he wins the nomination.

Our message to the world should be a quote from Bill Goldberg.

Good point there. I was thinking something along those lines, myself. You did a better job of wording it.

For a start I would like to see Bush reverse the Clinton policy of sending Cuban refugees picked up at sea back to Cuba. That scene of those refugees refusing to pick up lifelines from the Coast Guard boat and swimming six miles to shore instead was awful. At the same time start working on a serious plan to get rid of communism in Cuba once and for all.

Makes sense, the 2 are actually very close and quite good friends, then again, Holy Joe is also friends with Cheney and still does some work with his wife.

Lieberman has been trying to court the Cuban vote down here. Kerry was down here not too long ago also. But it wont work. The Cuban-Americans are not going to duped again like Clinton did years ago. We see that Bush means business and we all pray for his success.

Joe's just taking a preemptive strike at Bush's Florida base. Unlike Gore, Lieberman seems to recognize that he doesn't have a prayer in Florida without wooing the Latin voter.
