Pregnancy center offers free first trimester ultrasounds

The Bakersfield Pregnancy Center welcomed a new edition to its facilities Thursday.

Mayor Harvey Hall was on hand to introduce the Christian nonprofit agency's new first trimester ultrasound capability.

The center helps women and teenage girls deal with unplanned pregnancies. It also offers free pregnancy testing, individual and group counseling, as well as healthcare referrals.

With new ultra sound equipment, the center hopes to encourage pregnant women to consider options outside of abortion.

“We can offer women in their first trimester a free ultra sound and give them a chance to see what's going on in their body,” said John Dragoun, executive director of the Bakersfield Pregnancy Center. “We have had women who really make a decision based on the ultrasound and seeing that child in real time.”

Founded in 1985, the Bakersfield Pregnancy Center also does outreach programs through high schools to encourage abstinence.

Pro-lifers should expunge "trimester" from their vocabulary. It does not express any kind of medical reality. Harry Blackmun introduced the term in Roe v. Wade purely for the purpose of creating bogus "legal" distinctions.

Nonetheless, this DOES open a whole new door in the fight against prenatal MURDER!

I think, hope, and pray, this will open an entire generation's eyes to the lies and mistruths they have been fed by the left, and help in the regeneration of a life-embracing, Godly culture on this continent.

There is little hope left for Europe, Asia or Africa, but perhaps the tide of immorality and state sanctioned murder can be slowed by these brave folk.

This is the "stealth bomber" of the abortion debate. We on the right have faced a generation and a half of women ( and quite a few men ) who have been conned into thinking that abortion is some sort of inalienable right...

But the pictures tell the truth- "it" is a baby. Not a "tissue mass," not a "fetus"- but a baby.

I understand these machines are going up in malls- to the predictable hooting & hollering of the pro-death side... when enough women see pictures of the baby inside them, the debate will largely be over.
