- How big of a dent will this new technology make on the number of abortions.
- Will it increase pro-life sentiment?
- Will this translate into votes for pro-life politicians?

I didn't get an audio on the feed. It's odd, but right up until they show the GE logo, it seemed like it could be an ad from some pro-life group.
To: Senator Pardek
It plays the song, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack, with a voiceover from an announcer.

I had an idea a while back. I'm probably not the first one to have it. But wouldn't it be great if we could get doctors who are upgrading to the newer, better ultrasound equipment to donate their old equipment to pro-life Crisis Pregnancy Centers? These centers could then give free ultrasounds to their clients. I'm sure it would boost the success rate of these centers in convincing women not to pay a butcher to suck their pureed baby out into a sink.

This won't do anything for many people at all. It's hard enough to talk a doctor into doing an ultrasound at all (and insurance companies frequently won't pay for one, regular u/s runs about $150) muchless get them to do one of these new ultrasounds unless there is a really big potential problem with the baby. Now my recent OB did an ultrasound at almost every appointment but that a really odd for an OB and out of all the OBs I've had in the past, he's the first to do this. I've been pregnant 5 times (though only 2 children.. first 3 miscarried.) Each pregnancy was with a different OB since we have moved around a lot since we married. So I wouldn't count on enough people getting these great new ultrasounds for them to make much impact on abortion rates. I think they should do u/s early and often because it helps you feel more of a connection with the baby and both you and your spouse are already well bonded with the baby before the it is even born.

This is the "stealth bomber" of the abortion debate. We on the right have faced a generation and a half of women ( and quite a few men ) who have been conned into thinking that abortion is some sort of inalienable right...
But the pictures tell the truth- "it" is a baby. Not a "tissue mass," not a "fetus"- but a baby.
I understand these machines are going up in malls- to the predictable hooting & hollering of the pro-death side... when enough women see pictures of the baby inside them, the debate will largely be over.

"GE we bring good things to life."
Questions:
(1) Will NARAL try to get the ad banned?
(2) Will the Human Rights Campaign protest that the ad should have shown two lesbians as the parents instead of a woman and a man?
(3) Will Hillary feel the need to go the kitchen and sharpen a paring knife?
(4) Will the pro-death abortionists ever realize they have no conscience?

This is so cool. My wife and I just learned last week that we are expecting our second child. Our first was born in 1995. I can't wait for the ultrasound...hopefully, they will have this machine!
