May 13, 2003 -- Not to kick a newspaper when it's down, but Jayson Blair isn't - wasn't - the only problem The New York Times has with reality.
The paper's 7,200-word act of self-flagellation - published over four pages on Sunday - boiled down to this: "Golly, it sure is tough when a clever fellow sets out to deceive us ever-vigilant folks here at The Times, where we move heaven and earth every day to get things right."

The Old Gay Lady definitely has trouble with TRUTH.
To: kattracks
Actual conversation overheard between two 70 year old siblings born and raised in NY:
He: . . . That's because you are a liberal.
She: I AM NOT a Liberal.
He; Well, you read the NYT and believe what's in it.
She: Blah Blah I am not a liberal.
He: I'll tell you when they lost me, it was over the Augusta deal when they wouldn't publish (writer's name's) article
.
She: They said MEA CULPA, MEA CULPA - poundig her chest, naturally..
I: (thinking, she doesn't know that was just the tip of the iceberg because she either doesn't want to know or she will soon find out without my having to stir a political argument at a funeral) gathering up my things to go back to the hotel come out with a brief, "It was censorship", but regretfully leave out, "I love the Sunday Times. I buy it once a year before my annual garage sale to use for packing things into bags for my customers"
Oh, well. Some people really won't get what's going on at the Times. But as I read these pieces, I hope.

The Old Gray Whore lost its credibility long, long ago.
These days the Whore is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the DNC.

Thanks for all your pings!!
I think we are going to see a lot of these articles, because NYT reporters have been an arrogant bunch to the rest of the press.
The Adam Clymer article during the campaign was fed partially by the malicious glee of other reporters, who secretly agreed with President Bush's assessment of Clymer's personality. Times reporters seem to think they are a cut above the rest, and it sticks in the craw of the rest of the press, which after all, are a jealous and spiteful bunch.
Heheheh.

Didn't a couple of its reporters commit suicide not too long ago? Just wondering if they really were suicides.

The NY Slimes has at least 7 decades of lies, half truths, DNC mantras posing as news, coverups of the left posing as news, bashing the right with lies posing as news and using more undisclosed Deepthroats in a single day as its great tradition.

This editorial in the Post makes a valid case. That recent front page NYT article attempting to convince NYers they don't pay much in taxes made me think: WHATTTTTT??? I have heard of spin, but that story was an outright lie. And, anyone (with more than half a brain) who's lived in NY knew it. In the meantime, perhaps the NYT/Jayson saga really is starting to have a big impact:

Now they have the Justice Department looking at them, incase Blair broke some federal laws.
"The New York Times has received a request for information from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York," the newspaper said in a statement.
"We understand that the office is attempting to determine whether Jayson Blair's reporting conduct violated the law."
The Times said it did not request an investigation but would cooperate with an inquiry

The Leftist bent of the NYTimes and the infestation of democrats holding elected offices throughout all levels of government in NY: a coincidence? NOT.

The NY Slimes sets the agenda for the other lefty fishwraps and ABCNNBCBS.
The Slimes comes out with a hit piece full of lies and distortions like GW had no Gravitas or the lies about the looting of the Baghdad Museum. The Sunday Shrieking Heads scream the mantras "Bush has no Gravitas!", "Bush allowed massive looting at Baghdad Museum or whatever.
Then, the other maggot infested fishwraps have their political cartoons, oped writers and editors whine and scream about "Bush has no Gravitas!", "Bush allowed the looting!" or whatever. Then Blather, Jennings and Brokaw mouth these mantras with a stern look and a negative shake of their heads.
Next comes the Rat senators and congressits out to scream. This past couple of weeks, it has been about GW landing on the carrier.
99.999999% of these BS mantras start out as lies, half truths and spin published by the NY Slimes!
To: Grampa Dave
Yes, and the NYTimes "News Service" is carried by several, (dare I say most) newspapers across the country, thereby giving the NYT even more coverage (spreading) of their agenda-driven-anti-GOP reporting (lies).

Besides their news service, they are major owners players in many so called local newspapers.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat is a minature Slimes with local news. Then they repeat every national left wing lie and prop spin that the Mother Liar Ship, the Slimes puts out.
You can bet that the so called local editors/publishers of these so called local newspapers are selected by the power group in the Slimes. Conservatives, Christians and practicing Jews need not apply for any of these jobs.

This is great!

I have begun to suspect that federal investigation has to do with Blair's lies about the sniper case. I would imagine U.S. Attorney for MD DiBiagio and his office were infuriated by one article in particular.
To: aristeides
I believe that you are right. I posted this last night and this morning:

Think about the DC Sniper case and the lies and half truths that Blair wrote about that situation. That could be where the investigaion is headed.
