Environment is the largest contributor to the developement of an individual, and when that environment is violent and/or oppressed, then that individual will often take on some of these characteristics.

Genetics gives you the potential and environment is the circumstances around your choices to develope it. What genetics does not give, the environment can't develope. You seem to be confused about this issue, and perhaps others as well?

In a president, character is everything. A president doesn't have to be brilliant... He doesn't have to be clever; you can hire clever... You can hire pragmatic, and you can buy and bring in policy wonks. But you can't buy courage and decency, you can't rent a strong moral sense. A president must bring those things with him... He needs to have, in that much maligned word, but a good one nonetheless, a "vision" of the future he wishes to create. But a vision is worth little if a president doesn't have the character-- the courage and heart-- to see it through.

Presidential speechwriter Peggy Noonan

Let's see, character, character. Yep, we've got it in the White House today. That hurts, doesn't it?

I would say that it is the Far Left's culture that is dominant in this country. Witness Eminem, Madonna, Britney Spears, et. al., ad nauseum, homo promo, kill your baby if you don't want it.... We have seen the rise of people such as Brian Becker, Ramsey Clark, Tim Robbins, da da da... that espouse your point of view.

NONE of these are conservative values. Political Correctness is rampant in our culture and in our institutions, especially Academia, and Gubbermint.

The very idea that you put forth is laughable. To a very large degree, Conservatism is based on 2 things: 1) a set of core principles that the Left does not have; and 2) a reaction against people like you.

BTW, I agree with you about your point wrt the strictures on freedom in the name of "security."

Just try flying sometime.

Oh, by the way, welcome to FreeRepublic.

This account has been banned or suspended.

Looks like the Mod saved him the embarassment of seeing the drubbing he's getting. Who says conservatives are mean? :)

Welcome ngnm. Hang around here a while. We'll try to straighten out your little brain-washed head. I would guess you've picked up this drivel from some leftist school and professor, sounds like it's right out of the communist manifesto.

It is the viewpoint that only what is good for me and my own is good and f**k the rest.

Capitalists make their fortunes by providing a product or service for others; creating something of value for others. The value they create is not measured by them. (What was Ray Croc going to do with billions of hamburgers, hoard them all for himself?) The capitalist's reward for his/her efforts is based on the success, or lack thereof, in creating value for others. If the product or service is of no value to others, then the capitalist's efforts are not rewarded. This is as it should be in a fair and just society.

That was a mistake, IMHO. I agree with piasa. There seemed to be a faint spark of cognitive ability to the poster's comments; that this person might have the ability to reason through the indoctrination he/she has suffered at the hands of others, if given the chance.

Like the song says, "Tis a shame, all the pain we're missing . . ."

I'm going to lean against this wall, and pray for the banning to fall!

Look at the obviously pro-capitalist stance taken by most, if not all, conservatives. It is the viewpoint that only what is good for me and my own is good and f**k the rest.

There's nothing wrong with Capitalism
There's nothing wrong with free enterprise
Don't try to make me feel guilty
I'm so tired of hearing you cry

There's nothing wrong with making some profit
If you ask me I'll say it's just fine
There's nothing wrong with wanting to live nice
I'm so tired of hearing you whine
About the revolution
Bringin' down the rich
When was the last time you dug a ditch, baby!

If it ain't one thing
Then it's the other
Any cause that crosses your path
Your heart bleeds for anyone's brother
I've got to tell you you're a pain in the ass

You criticize with plenty of vigor
You rationalize everything that you do
With catchy phrases and heavy quotations
And everybody is crazy but you

You're just a middle class, socialist brat
From a suburban family and you never really had to work
And you tell me that we've got to get back
To the struggling masses (whoever they are)
You talk, talk, talk about suffering and pain
Your mouth is bigger than your entire brain
What the hell do you know about suffering and pain . . .

There's nothing wrong with Capitalism
There's nothing wrong with free enterprise
Don't try to make me feel guilty
I'm so tired of hearing you cry

You're just a middle class, socialist brat
From a suburban family and you never really had to work
And you tell me that we've got to get back
To the struggling masses (whoever they are)
You talk, talk, talk about suffering and pain
Your mouth is bigger than your entire brain
What the hell do you know about suffering and pain . . .

There's nothing wrong with Capitalism
There's nothing wrong with Capitalism
There's nothing wrong with Capitalism
There's nothing wrong with Capitalism

piasa.....thanks so much for this statement(the other points are brilliant too)..."You don't know what the meaning of violence is ... for an understanding of what violence is, read up on Stalin, Pol Pot, Hitler, Castro, FALN, Hamas, Hezbollah, PFLP, Abu Sayyaf, Abu Nidal, China, the PLO, the Red Army Faction, the Baader-Meinhof Gang, North Korea, etc"........

This is something the left refuses to recognize. It is their leaders, their Icons who have killed millions. Ronald Reagan as POTUS freed millions...Abraham Lincoln as POTUS freed millions. These children from the left who think they know everything because the read some books know nothing about the real world.

These idiots have no idea what the real world is like...they know only what they read in a book, books that have recreated history for their brain washing purposes.

God Bless the people of this earth who have truly suffered violence and oppression....
