Judge seals autopsy report on Peterson and unborn son

At the request of prosecutors and defense attorneys, a judge sealed the completed autopsy reports for Laci Peterson and her unborn son Thursday.

"What we're trying to do is protect the defendant's right to a fair trial," Chief Deputy District Attorney John Goold said. "That's our major concern, the case itself. Nobody wants to see this stuff splashed across the Internet."

Court documents filed Thursday indicated that neither side had received the reports.

A statement from the Contra Costa County coroner's office said the reports would be delivered to the Stanislaus County district attorney's office within the "next few days."

The reports were completed earlier than expected, and Contra Costa officials were preparing to release them Thursday afternoon, Stanislaus County prosecutors said.

Prosecutors requested that the coroner withhold the documents until "further investigation" could be completed, Stanislaus County Superior Court documents show.

"We don't have a legal right to withhold these documents without a court order," said Jimmy Lee, a spokesman for the Contra Costa Sheriff's Department. "We have to follow the law."

Thursday morning, Judge Al Girolami ordered the reports conditionally sealed, pending a May 27 hearing on the matter. He also directed the coroner's office to provide the report to prosecutors, who would give a copy to the defense.

Girolami also ordered the remains held at the Contra Costa coroner's office until further notice.

Actually, killers who "overkill" their victim generally know their victim quite well. All the anger they've been harboring against this person explodes in the killing. IF what the defense is claiming is true, I don't think Scott needed to be on drugs to do it. He had plenty of anger and resentment to fuel him.

Someone on another forum reported seeing Ted Rowlands report this morning saying that head, hands and feet were gone.

Also, said that there were "hundreds" of people who said they saw Scott that morning ... including one man who saw him at the marina at about 6:30 and watched him with binoculars. Saw him towing something ... or something floating by the boat (Laci?).

I caught Geraldo on Hannity and Colmes and had the same reaction you did.

I caught a rerun of Catherine Crier's show from yesterday. Rita Cosby and Ted Rowlands were on. Both agreed that there were several witnesses who placed Snott at the marina twice on Dec. 24.

Both agreed that Amber had sent the note in the book warning Snott of phone taps and that this could have caused LE and the DA to be suspicicous of her.

Rita said that Amber was the catalyst--the motive for the murder.

Rita and Ted both said that Laci *knew* about the boat and had seen it at least once in the warehouse and may have even sat in the boat. I didn't hear either give a source of any type for this information.

There was a broadcast report circulating Friday Laci Peterson's may have fallen victim to a satanic cult.

Speaking On Friday's Mornings On 2, Benny Del Re -- the head of the Santa Clara County Crime Lab -- downplayed the report, saying such a conclusion would be extremely difficult without intricate knowledge of the autopsy report.
