From Reuters:

Funny Cide Installed as Favorite for Preakness

BALTIMORE, Maryland (Reuters) - Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide was installed the 7-5 morning-line favorite for the Preakness Stakes after Wednesday's draw.

Heavy rain fell at Pimlico Race Course on Friday, the day before the Preakness Stakes, second leg of the Triple Crown.

A steeplechase event on Friday's racecard was called off and three other races scheduled for the turf were switched to the dirt track.

From the Washington Post:

Jockey on a Mission

Exonerated Santos, Funny Cide Go for Crown's Second Leg

BALTIMORE, May 16 -- When his ordeal was over, when he had been cleared of charges that he had cheated in the Kentucky Derby, an emotionally drained Jose Santos said, "I feel like I had to win the race twice."

The jockey's task now is to win the Preakness once. However, it won't be easy for him to ride Funny Cide as flawlessly as he did in the Derby and defeat Peace Rules again.

Santos delivered a tactical masterpiece at Churchill Downs, then dealt with a nonexistent scandal that threatened to tarnish his victory -- albeit briefly -- a week later. On Monday, he was exonerated -- and the jockey was once again the center of attention this week going into the Preakness.

Eleanor Mondale is one of the commentators right now for the pre-race coverage for ESPN2? I didn't know she was doing sports coverage, quite a notch down from making it with the President in the Oval Office.

Dealing with horses is a huge step up from dealing with a jackass.

I pick Peace Rules for an upset. I think he has the ability to get off to a fast start and lead early on.

Go Funny Cide!! It would be great if he could make a Triple Crown attempt, especially after the whole stupid NON-EXISTENT photo controversy. I hope NBC tells the whole story about him (Funny Cide) about how a gelding hasn't won since 1929 and the trainer only has 3 or 4 horses in his entire barn. It's a great story.
