Different address. BUT now that you mention it, that downtown address did originally come from the Sec of State website. That website now shows the invalid warehouse address. At some point during all of this he took the time to update the address to a more recently vacated location.

I am not complaining about the release!
I would like a better "statement of reason" for the release than a TOTAL innocense of ALL the persons released.
The reasons for failure to try the case again, with the new evidence as part of the defense, would serve the public better in most cases.
I bet it would be interesting to talk to the Police Officers in each case.

Hmmm. Did the person who phoned in the tip sound kind of short of breath?

Thanks for showing understanding of my point!
It is not an easy concept to put forth and still be careful of the right of the accused to a fair trial and the public to a right of protection from the guilty.
It will be interesting to see if the pattern of recidivism of these folks is ever published.

Again, 114 out of how many? What is the percentage. You can say that 114 children died from swallowing a part from a toy. But again, 114 out of how many?

Think of all the electricity that's been saved!I prefer to kill death-penalty sentencees by the use of static electricity.

I have a problem with the death penalty the way it is implemented. In some states, you can get death on the basis of one eyewitness. Even in Old Testament times, two eyewitnesses were required for the death penalty, and they were aware that if they testified falsely, they could be subject to death also. And remember that most people lived in small communities where an eyewitness ID would be just recognizing a neighbor, not trying to pick a stranger out of a mugbook of thousands.
The solution:
-Life without parole based on "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt". An error can be rectified.
-Death only based on "guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt". Once this test is met at the punishment phase of trail, the punishment should be carried out without unreasonable delay.

Be careful. That could lead to some accidents.

He goes on to accuse jurors in the cases he cites as being immoral and "flippantly" renedering death sentences. I'd say he's the one with the disregard for the truth. Wonder how many of those jurors he actually talked to before he sentenced them?
He knows all and sees all, as "Liaison & Intelligence Officer, Southern Oregon Militia."

Southern Oregon Militia Another loon "stationed" in or about Grants Pass? The list grows on.
To: runningbear
Saying the jurors "flippantly" convicted these men without individually examining all 114 trial is irresponsible. Surely some of these jurors and trials represent resonable judgements based on the facts presented in court.
If these trials had witnesses who claimed to have seen the crime, and the defense was not able to discredit these witnesses or their testimony, what would the author expect them to do?
These are not cases where the forensics evidence was ignored. The DNA testing either was not available or was not done at the time.
To judge a decision based on information that wasn't available at the time it was made is highly unfair.

" If it is 114 out of 100,000, then I say that while there may be a problem, it is not a big problem."
A google search came up with the estimated number of people on death row to be 3700. That's 3%, and that number will surely grow as more DNA tests are done. And it certinly is a problem if those 114 were exicuted...

I think that those who support the death penalty and understand our criminal justice system are willing to accept that some innocent people will be executed.

Would you willing to accept it if we can guarantee that you will be one of them? This just isn't going to work.
I'm not innocent. ;-)
