Hizbullah bombmaking supply boat seized
Jerusalem Post ^ | May. 22, 2003 | MARGOT DUDKEVITCH

Israeli naval commandos seized a fishing boat from Lebanon loaded with rocket fuses, electronic bombmaking components and Hizbullah compact discs containing instructions on how to put together explosives belts used by suicide bombers, military officials said Thursday.

Eight people were also captured on board the Egyptian fishing boat off the northern Israeli coast, including two Hizbullah operatives, sources said.

The most significant suspect was identified as Hamed Amsalem Abu Amra, a Hizbullah man suspected of planning to help instruct Palestinian terrorists about bombmaking techniques.

The boat, called the Abu Hassan, was intercepted on a regular shipping route off the Israeli coast early Wednesday morning, but news of the capture was delayed by military censors until Thursday.

Initial reports said the boat was loaded with weapons, but in fact there were few weapons found on board, and most of the material found was electronic devices used in the preparations of bombs, sources said.

No Palestinian Authority figures were found on board the boat, but the IDF suspects that two Palestinian officials, Adel Almairibi and Fathi Razam, a naval commander and aide to Yasser Arafat, weren't on ship but gave the orders to carry out the operation to bring the material to the West Bank and Gaza Strip and the Hizbullah instructor.

Both men were involved in the infamous Karine A episode of January 2002, where a boat was intercepted with a cargo of 50 tons of weapons destined for the Palestinian Authority.

The boat's cargo included 25 rocket fuses stuffed into five metal boxes, 15 electronic delay units, programming units and a radio activation system. There were two sets of 36 CDs, containing bombmaking training manuals.

The manuals include step-by-step instructions about how to put together explosive belts used in suicide bomb attacks, military officials said. One video presentation shows a mannequin seated in a bus wearing an explosives belt, and instructs viewers on the most strategic place for a bomber to stand so as to maximize casualties.

The boat initially set out from an Egyptian port on May16, and docked in Beirut, where the material was loaded and the Hizbullah man boarded. It set sail anew, apparently for the Gaza Strip late Tuesday, May 20. Israeli naval commandos intercepted the ship off the northern coast some hours later, early on Wednesday morning.

I must be sick. I would have edited the discs (if you know what I mean) and let the shipments through.

Is Hizbullah the same as Hezbollah?

Is one the English spelling and the other the French spelling?

Why so much confusion about Arabic names?

As Popeye the Sailor said years ago, "Abu Hassan got it any more"!

They should embed this puke's latest invention up his butt, hang him upside down over a pig sty, and ignite the device. Let the hogs eat the remains. Send the film to al-Jazeera.
