Terror fight makes Bush unbeatable
Baltimore Sun ^ | 5/22/03 | Douglas MacKinnon

WASHINGTON - In the past few weeks, I have spoken with a number of politically experienced Democrats. The two questions I've asked them: "What do you think of President Bush's chances in 2004, and why?"

Publicly, they would state Mr. Bush is in trouble. But privately, to a person, they say the election is all but over, and he will win.

Their rationale, pure and simple, is terrorism. These Democrats know the American people believe that Mr. Bush can protect them against terrorism better and more forcefully than the Democrats, and that protecting the homeland trumps economic issues or any other wedge issue the Democratic nominee may come up with.

The current rhetoric of the nine candidates now running for the Democratic nomination would have the American people believe that Mr. Bush, our intelligence agencies and our military have failed in the war against terrorism. That is their rhetoric, but many Americans (including Democratic voters) aren't buying it.

Rush Limbaugh will modestly point out on his Open Line Friday telephone in radio show that this is another instance of the Rush Echo Syndrome at work.

Things look good for 43 but anything can happen between now and a year from November next.
Bush or anybody else for that matter can be beaten by a bad economy. Those soup bowls must be filled or the politicians in charge are going to pay.
If there is another terrorist attack on American soil, then Bush can be sacrificed for that too. I myself will blame him for not doing anything to secure our borders and rein in legal and illegal immigration.

The American people are very bright and very realistic. They understand and expect another "terrorist shoe" to drop in the United States someday. That's the reality we all live with after Sept. 11.

That said, many Americans still believe that Mr. Bush will be the right person to have in the White House should that occur. Many American voters simply don't believe that any of the Democrats running right now would confront or hit back at terrorists as hard as Mr. Bush would.

This is the TRUTH. The DEMONCRATS are toast. And I'm pretty sure the HILDEBEAST will NEVER get another chance to TRASH the White House and steal more furniture.

Hillary Clionton has as much chance of becoming the POTUS as Al Sharpton. The general public is not blind to the disgrace and dishonor that Bill and Hillary brought upon the White House and the Office of the Presidency.

Hillary and the hopelessly doomed liberals can dream all they want for Hillary in 2008, but it will never happen. That pear legged lying black pantsuit wearing criminal will not be re-elected to the Senate. let alone become a realistic candidate for the highest office in the land.

Liberals might believe her bullsh*t, America isn't going for it

Throw in an unexpected 3rd Party Challenge and 2004 can get REAL dicey for Bush. For the reasons you outlined, Bush had better think long and hard about his dad's experience and the factors that led to his defeat.

Here's hoping for a hundred year war.

It's not that I'm a bloodthirsty SOB, it's just that I don't see any way of defeating the mohammadans except over the long term -- unless we go nuclear. And 100 hundred years of no rats in the White House sounds good to me!

"pear legged"

Pear legged? Honey, that is an elephant leg if I've ever seen one.

Hopefully, and politically speaking, that elephant leg will end up being an umbrella stand in someone's foyer before she is POTUS.

Bush or anybody else for that matter can be beaten by a bad economy.

That has been the norm recently. But it wasn't for FDR. THe depression deepened under him but voters didn't care. They had an emotional attachment to him. FDR was trying. He ws doing something. For them. When that bond is made, it is almost unbreakable. We've all met people today who voted for FDR and think the same of him now as they did in 1938.

Bush isn't all the way to the relationship FDR had with voters. Times aren't as threatening. But he is close. And there is no one even on the horizon the majority trusts more.

Even if all of this were true, do you think that staying home will get you anyone better than W? Who among the 9 morons would do that? Let's keep our leaders accountable, but perfection is not a fair standard to judge them against.
