OKLAHOMA CITY - Toby Keith (news) says he missed picking up his award as country music's Entertainer of the Year because he was singing and writing a song with Willie Nelson (news).

Keith, a native of Moore, was nominated for eight awards, but was shut out seven times. At that point, he left the show. At the end, he was picked and fellow Oklahomans Reba McEntire (news) and Vince Gill (news) accepted the award on his behalf.
Keith released a statement Thursday through his publicist saying he didn't think he had a shot at the Entertainer of the Year award so he left and met Willie Nelson.
The two wrote a song together and were playing and singing when he learned he had won.
"Honestly, if I had thought I was going to win, I would have been on stage to accept this prestigious award," Keith's statement said.
Other Oklahoma winners were Tulsan Ronnie Dunn, half of Duo of the Year, Brooks & Dunn; Joe Don Rooney from Picher, part of Group of the Year Rascal Flatts; and Kellie Coffey (news) of Moore, the New Female Vocalist.

Toby was on the Jimmy Kimmel Show Thursday night. In referring to Natalie Maines of the D.C., he said that she has something to "blow out of her hole every day"--explaining that their feud goes back nine months when she had some putdown about his song, "Angry American." The camera panned to five people in the audience who had "F.U.D.C." t-shirts.

The camera panned to five people in the audience who had "F.U.D.C." t-shirts. How funny. They(DC) can dish it out, but can they take it?

Natalie Maines is an idiot by any objective standard. Even those who fully agree with her political views would agree, if they are honest.
The best way to go out of business is to make your customers mad at you. It's pretty basic.

I must apologise to the Dixie Chicks. Dear Ladies, I'm sorry that you stink and I'm sorry that you hate your country and I'm sorry that you hate your fans. In the future I will refrain from making fun of you because it's just too easy. There I sure feel better.

Hmmm. Actually I don't think Natalie Mains is *big*...she just resembles Miss Piggy and has a big fat mouth. :o/

In the future I will refrain from making fun of you because it's just too easy. There I sure feel better. Toby Keith was at least partly gracious toward the Chicks on the Jimmy Kimmel Show: 1) He acknowledged they produced good music; 2) He made a distinction between Natalie and the other two--saying he was sorry they were lumped in with Natalie; 3) Jimmy Kimmel said, "I'm told the Dixie Chicks are watching this program right now. What you like to tell them?" Toby looked straight into the camera and said, "I love you with all of my heart."
So he knew how to tell it straight, but didn't feel he needed to go overboard & pour it on.

Toby's the man. Telling your critics you love them makes them fume. I've used the tactic before and it almost induces a stroke.

Didn't Willie Nelson make much stronger statements about Bush than DC? And he did send gifts to those 50 Texas Democratic clowns.

Willie is an old pothead drunk coot. He never said he was ashamed that GWB was from Texas. And he didn't put down his country while standing on foriegn soil. An then he didn't tell his fans to kiss his old boney arse. Other than that I get confused as to who is who Willie or Gnatalie.

Have either one of the other two D.C.'s ever said anything bad?
If I vowed to never listen to a band that did something I find offensive I don't think I would own any music.
I wonder how many of you riding the DC's have music from the Beatles in your collections? A group of anti-American, dope smoking leftist washed-up hippies.
I certainly am offended by what the head DC did, but when you get right done to it, what harm was done?
I'm actualy a fairly new country fan, metal has always been more to my liking. The only two country cd's I own are the new Dixie Chicks and the new Toby Keith. Both of which I enjoy very much. "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses" is now one of my all time favorites. I also think Natalie(?) has the voice of an angel, one of the best I've ever heard. IMHO she's also pretty damn hot, pretty face and just the right amount of meat on her bones.
If the D.C.'s put out a cd of spoken political essays I wouldn't buy one, a new music cd, maybe.
Flame away, it's a boring rainy Friday here.
