Black Americans must wake up to the manipulation by the U.S. media and many of their leaders with a hidden far-left political agenda. A black Cuban is also a member of the same race, and those enslaved by Castro's tyranny deserve their support and solidarity.

Race has nothing to do with it, but ideology. I agree that because of the similarities in their past and the fact that American blacks have for so long been on the receiving end of black violence and crime, you may think they are sensitive to calls for racial solidarity on behalf of oppressed black Cubans. However, this is not the case since the leftist ideology is like a religion and has taken over the black caucus of the Democratic Party.

Another problem regarding American's indifference to the suffering of Cubans is due to the acceptance of the leftist media's view of Cuba and Castro by the majority of people. And if you take in consideration that all the news networks repeat the same news, it becomes evident how simple it is to impose those views on the general population.

My grandfather worked as a foreman in a Cuban sugar refinary in the 1930s. He took each of his 7 children from his home in Louisiana to stay with him in Cuba for two years (on a rotating basis as they became teenagers).
During my Dad's rotation in the 30s he described Cuba as having a huge rich-poor gap. Beer was dispensed free on the streets to molify the workers. He also said there was a subtle racial caste system. As a white teenager with blonde hair he caught the eye of many upper class Cuban girls. However, they would not join him in daytime activities because direct sunlight darkened their skin.
