NBC "Today" show host Katie Couric's liberal bias was on full display Friday morning as she pulled out all the stops to trash President Bush's tax cut program during an interview with Commerce Secretary Don Evans.
In a montage of quotes aired later in the day by America's most trusted broadcaster, Rush Limbaugh, Couric was so upset with the Bush victory that she even complained at one point that the tax reduction was "itty-bitty."
Some Couric highlights:
- "It's by no means a victory for the Bush administration because it's less than half of what the White House had hoped for. The president went to the Senate requesting a tax cut significantly higher."
- "I know the president is calling this a victory but this is an amount that's been ridiculed as itty-bitty. So why is this being considered a great accomplishment?"
- "I guess the big question is how stimulative is this kind of package? How stimulative are tax cuts? Why are you all convinced that this will really provide the economy with the jump-start it so desperately needs?"
Last month Couric came under fire for comments indicating that she was rooting for Saddam Hussein to survive U.S. attacks and win refuge in Syria.
While discussing the Butcher of Baghdad's fate with NBC's Pentagon correspondent, Jim Miklaszewski, the multimillion-dollar morning host asked whether U.S. officials had been able to "confirm reports he was taken to Tikrit, and then Mosul, and then - hopefully - to Syria."
Couric's spokeswoman initially demanded that NewsMax retract the quote, only to admit later that NBC's own transcript of the broadcast confirmed the comment.
"Katie simply misspoke," she explained, saying at the time that NBC was considering issuing a press release to clarify the morning star's remark. Instead, the network declined to comment any further on the incident.
Find out how Katie Couric earned her stripes as a full-fledged member of NewsMax.com's "Deck of Weasels."

I guess Katie doesn't read the Times. Then again, I don't think Katie reads anything, she just blurts out whatever rattles around in her itty-bitty mind.

I'm amazed that people still tune in to listen to that dimbulb.

When will America finally tire of her? She does nothing but shamlessly promote her liberal agenda. She's not even subtle. She is so biased, a shining example of what is wrong in journalism.
I gave up watching her years ago after she aired a segment on how to obtain RU486 to "expell the products of pregnancy." She even provided a link to Planned Parenthood on the NBC website.

Soooo.....when the tax cut is big, the liberals bitch because it's big. When it's little, they bitch because it's itty bitty and won't help the economy.
Bottom line: they bitch about everything and all things Republican.

This whole demonstrates how clever Bush really is (I would not want to play poker against him). If he had originally asked for 350B and might have had to settle for something less. So Bush aims high and settles for something lower and prepares to go harder next time.

I would be glad to accept the "itty-bitty" tax savings on Katie Couric's income.

Please, the left is so infantile and selfish it knows nothing about the fine art of negotiation. The left demands 100 percent upfront at all times and always takes home far less!

Here's the thing. We'll pass tax cuts, and we'll let leftists walk around trying to comfort themselves by telling each other we "didn't get everything we wanted".
I'll take that tradeoff any time.

small tax cut, large tax cut, don`t matter still is a tax cut and we need it.

Its even worse. Many of them bitch that it's too big (hurts the deficit) and too small (we don't get enough back) at the same time. Conservative response: Well this one is passed. Time to start planning for the next one to address those dem's concerns. More tax cuts will help the deficit situation in the long run. It always does because it forces them to cut spending AND it stimulates the economy etc (time to stop before I start sounding like Rush!)

He would stay pleasant take what he could get and come back again and again until he got what he wanted. He was a pragmatist as well. I have noticed that Dubya governs more like Reagan than like his father.

Not my cup of tea. But Limbaugh's crew watches. And listens. And edits for content.
They chopped down her interview: "And the President's critics..his critics..your critics...how are you going to
answer the critics..."
I still can't believe the Ann Coulter book/interview transcript.
