UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- Pygmy activists from Congo are demanding that the United Nations set up a tribunal to try government and rebel fighters accused of slaughtering and eating Pygmies during fighting in the northeastern corner of the country.
Army, rebel and tribal fighters -- some believing the Pygmies are less than human or that eating their flesh would give them magic power -- have been pursuing them in forests, killing them and eating their flesh, the activists told a news conference Wednesday.

What. They want the UN to set up a Global Small Claims court?
To: ATOMIC_PUNK
In the days of yore this would potentially be a humerous thread with many puns, quips, and insensitive references, but now days FReepers are a more serious group.

Wait until they find out the Annan and the UN support serial murders and slavery
and even the Wyndego syndrome.

Oh, I cannot believe that people are going to treat this as a humor thread.
It's not funny at all. Anybody up for some Auschwitz jokes? How about abortion jokes? You laughed and laughed at the protestors holding up signs urging US Servicemen and women to shoot their officers? Funny as a crutch, folks.
THAT SAID. Asking the UN to help you with a human rights problem is like asking Uday Hussein to babysit your 11 year old daughter. These folks have not been well-advised. The UN has ALWAYS made inhumane situations WORSE, every time it gets involved.

GW has referred to Kim Jong Il as a "pygmy". Maybe Kimmy better be extra careful that somebody doesn't decide to eat him too.

Someone on the Planet Earth expects compassionate help from the same body that
raids/steals a food establishment clean at the first chance they get?
(RE: UN representatives STRIPPED the UN cafeteria bare of food and eating utensils
when there was a union walk-out of food workers; reported in TIME Magazine).
The poor Pygmies should just calmly resign themselves to likely extinction.
Thousands upon thousands of murdered innocents in UN-"Protected"
(jiminy, I can't help laughing at this oxymoron) areas would tell them to
get ready as they are likely to die...
before the "Blue Helmets" risk their lives (no, really, lift a finger) to protect them.
Looks like in a couple of years, we'll get to tell our kids what Pygmies were...
poor, ignorant people who trusted the UN for their protection.
Guess the Pygmies don't get FOX News.
If I'd watched FOX NEWS CHANNEL since 9-11, I'd call Dubya for help and tell
the UN to take a hike!

We should sponsor a United Nations resolution requiring all pygmies to carry nutrition tables.

The Hema and Lendu tribes have been fighting each other for control of the region's rich mineral deposits, vast forests and fertile land. Ah. They're at each other's throats.
But, seriously folks....

Well it is only a short story with little meat on the bones.

I'm with you on this. This definately isnt funny. The west has a history of ignoring what goes on in Africa. Even when we do go in to help we leave with the job unfinished( Somalia) The 3 months I spent there with the 15th MEU were for nothing. I know we can't send Marines into every situation, but The U.S. must put pressure on the rest of the world to stop the slaughter in the Congo, Liberia, and yes Somalia. Semper Fi
