Operation Infinite FReep - Support Our Troops - Modesto, CA 5-23-03
Posted on 05/24/2003 7:50:32 PM PDT by Diver Dave
Sunny skies with mild winds were the order of the day as fifteen patriots gathered to rally the citizens of Modesto, CA to Support Our Troops. The blowing winds kept all the flags of the Armed Forces and Old Glory flowing for all to see. Moms and Dads shared the news that "My daughter is home" or "My son is home." And while we all shared in their joy, still others have sons and daughters still in harm's way. One of our moms shared that she doesn't know where her son is located - only that her Marine is deployed once again.
Vehicle traffic was very heavy today, and the slow moving cars were able to read the Support Our Troops signs as well as see the photos of those serving for you and me in our Armed Forces. While some of us were walking the sidewalk behind posts with yellow ribbons attached, Freeper LarryA and his family fired up the grill for a tailgate party. Also helping LarryA were a couple of his fellow members of VFW 3199.
As Memorial Day draws near, we presented the message that our troops are not forgotten, the families left at home are not forgotten, and all those who served our country in the past all the way to the present, We Honor You and Salute You for your service. May God Bless America.

Sorry, no photos. Just use your imagination and you can see the flags, hear the horns honking and see the images of proud Americans saying thank you to our troops.
On Fox News yesterday, they showed two sailors aboard the USS Harry S. Truman holding up a sign which read, "Thank You For All Your Support." Imagine that, THEY are thanking us...

Thanks for this great report, Diver.
Yes, I can imagine the flags and the motorists giving you a thumbs-up. Isn't it wonderful to know that the troops are aware of the support they are receiving back home?
We had a non-freep last night. It was 95 degrees; there were no war protesters so we went to dinner early. The traffic was lighter than usual for a Friday night.
Thank you for being there for our Troops.

Hi Lady
You and Chads missed our non-FReep last night. We went to Lyons; everyone had dinner except me. I had a hot fudge sundae.
