I was shocked to read this in my local newspaper, The Times Picayune from New Orleans. It is in the print edition but not in the on-line edition. I do not understand why the editors would print this trash & defoul Memorial Day. This editorial was dated May 22 in the LA Times, but printed in the paper on Memorial Day locally under the title, "To the GI's, from our sorry country."

You need to read this commentary again. It's not defaming the military. It's giving Hell to some of the inept politicians (read liberals) running lose in DC and elsewhere who have held the military in disdain for years.

I printed this out for a later read. I think I will go back to smoking the ribs, have a beer and check on the Buttermilk-Raspberry Pie in the oven. No sense losing my appetite after all that good cookin.

I am also sorry. Sorry that the most powerful, successful nation in the history of earth is represented in it's cultural realm by self-loathing, arrogant, completely ignorant, blind fools. Sorry that the precious freedom of speech that myself and my miltary brethren fight to protect is too often speech free of value, understanding or true gratitude.

I am sorry that a miltary composed of people who overwhelmingly supported this war privately have been made the poster children these supposed intellectuals flaunt as part of their reason for opposing the necessary risks that must be undertaken. I'm sorry that a college-educated journalist could describe a people that have been freed from a 30-year despotic, murderous regime as no better off than they were before their liberation.

I am sorry that in the land of the free there are those who would have that freedom denied others, if only to advance their own petty agendas.

I am sorry that I don't have the right as a miltary member to stand and tell the world how proud I am of my President and my GOP representation.

Above all, I am sorry that those things that my brothers and sisters have died for are the very things our enemies within use to attack us.
