When I read these moon landing htreads, I'm always reminded of the irreverible even/decision points that could have spelled doom for the astronauts at any time. For example: It's one thing to get down and survive a landing on the moon. I never questioned it as a kid, but I can't help but wonder, now, that one of the scariest moments of the return trip must have bee to wonder if the blast-off from the surface would go off smoothly. I can imagine the lander exploding, or the rockets misfiring, or not firing at all... a host of nightmares that could spiral out of control by simply pushing the firing button for the boosters.

...bounce lasers off mirrors... I think they're called "French Corner Mirrors" or something similar.
BTB, Jack Horner said the Moon will be 1-1/3 light secs away on 6/2. Very close.
I was going to suggest borrowing a laser gun from the local PD and putting it on a equatorial mount.
However, I found this article: http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/files/releases/lunlaser.txt
I didn't realize that they're in an array. The documentary I remember showed one reflector, not a panel of them.

Love it!
CongressCritter Sheila Jackson Lee of the NASA area in Houston says we went to MARS and she asked if the flag is still there.

No. Even our best telescopes can't locate the flight of B-24's that landed there.
