Are you kidding me? Its been over 30 years since a Republican has won the governorship or a statewide office in KY?

That's correct...more than 30 years for any statewide office.

Ben Chandler said his party must establish "a theme of helping people: the average citizen, the average Kentucky family."

It is this "little guy" approach that has brought victory for the KY "democracy" in 1971, 1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, 1991, 1995, and 1999. By implication in KY, if the Democrats are FOR the "little guy," then the GOP must be for the "rich people." So why does one think 2003 will be different with the grandson of Albert Benjamin "Happy" Chandler heading the Demo slate? I guess it could depend on turnout: if the GOP turns out at twice the rate of the Democrats, Fletcher might win.
