LAKE PLACID - Andrew Cuomo this weekend returned to the event that offered him one of the few bright spots of his aborted campaign for governor last year - but the reaction this time was far from positive. Cuomo attended the annual state Rural Democratic Conference, where he won a straw poll over Carl McCall last year.

You might be on to something. The reason she gets top mention in newspaper polls is because newspaper editors and reporters ask each others' opinions and find them in total agreement with their own.

That's VERY interesting. I had read speculation on the Internet after the plane crash, of course, but had never heard about the possibility of a real confrontation between Hillary and JFK. I truly do not think this woman is one to be underestimated in the slightest and don't think that the fact the majority of people find her offensive is necessarily a deterent to her being elected. She frightens the hell out of me.

Cases in point:

1) A recent column by ultra-liberal Susan Estrich denouncing Hillary as completely unelectable was universally spiked. It appeared in not one of her liberal syndicated newspapers and has even vanished from the Internet. The Orwellian Memory Hole of 1984 Lives!!

2) This was promptly followed by a completely phony "news" story planted in the NY Times claiming that (PUBLIC HEALTH WARNING: PLEASE PLACE HOT BEVERAGES DOWN AND SWALLOW) Hillary is not liberal.

It is absolutely preposterous to assert that Hillary ordered the execution of any of her opponents or potential rivals. This is just conspiracy theory lunacy. Totally irrational and unfounded. Don't be silly.

I'll stand behind nobody in my intense dislike (nay, outright hatred) for the Hundin von Buchenwald -- but, as Sigmund Freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

JFKjr was a low-time pilot in over his head with a new, hot plane. I got my private ticket in 1971, and I'm familiar with the weather in that area and other coastal/island areas. Heavy haze and low fog over relatively shallow ocean water at night have gotten many an overconfident low-time pilot disoriented and into the "death spiral". This same set of circumstances (running late, anxious to get in, marginal VFR, night, no instrument ticket) used to appear regularly in the old AOPA Pilot magazine accident reports.

Unless Hillary sacrificed to her unspeakable gods for supernatural assistance in causing the weather to draw in and making one of JFKjr's passengers run late, I don't think she had anything to do with this (not that I would put it past her, but in this case I don't think so . . . )

In all seriousness, circumstances have lined up so often for Billary and Hillary that I sometimes wonder if some sort of pact with the Powers of Darkness isn't involved.
