[history]
On Wednesday, a Stage 1 Power Alert was declared by state power authorities. It was the first since last July 10; only two were declared in all of 2002. But if temperatures rise, the governor could be in for a long, hot summer of blackouts.

20,000? I heard days ago that people involved with the recall already turned in 350,000...of the 750,000 needed.

Wife #1 (aka First Wife) and I were in Redding for some sun last week so I haven't heard what the April Tax revenues were and how it affects the Deficit...

This article is behind the times on the numbers collected and the interest moving beyond Freepers and talk radio listeners to the mainstream. The California GOP hadn't recognized how quickly this grassroots measure has spread and has finished eating crow and now seeing this as a viable opportunity to kick some ass out of office. My office sent in two completed petitions on the first day, with requests from customers for more. Davis is toast.

The 18 thousand number is as of May 16th or May 19th, and released in the May 27
report by the Secretary of State. The official numbers are updated every 30 days,
so don't expect any higher number until the next report is released on June 23
(for numbers through June 13 or 16).

If an NBA basketball team was loaded with aging, overpriced players with long-term contracts, and all the draft choices for the next ten years were already traded away, and the arena was lucky to draw two thousand people a night, and the team was facing collapse and bankruptcy with nowhere to go but down - - I don't know
anybody who would want to take the head coaching job.
Really - - who would want to be governor of an imploding socialist pisspot like Kalifornia?
The Democrats have soiled themselves - - let them change their own diapers.

The Democrats have soiled themselves - - let them change their own diapers. Others have also made this argument. I disagree. The political impact of recalling the Democratic governor of the largest state would be huge. Not being from California, I imagine the event would be a boon for the CAGOP. It would also extend beyond California. Anytime you can kick a Democrat out of office, humiliate him and his party, and have a shot at electing a Republican, you take it, regardless of whether or not the Republican would be entering a tough situation.

Not above the July 04 line.

That's a laugh coming from someone who lives in PA. Our pols may be incompetent and crooked but they can't hold a candle to those in PA. You folks in PA could use a recall regulation like CA has.
Since you don't seem to like us, please don't plan on taking any vacations and enjoying our fine weather. Enjoy your snow-filled Winters and hot, humid, rainy Summers.

Train Wreck at Montparnasse Famous photograph of a famous train wreck in Paris. The train failed to stop at the back of the station, careened through the station wall and spilled out onto the street.
It seems so symbolic of the demRats and their out of control spending. Even when they pull into the station, they can't stop their spending. |

One bit of good news in California. Department of education has recanted their anti-homeschooling stance. Another VICTORY for homeschoolers. www.hslda.com

Relax, bub.
I've been to California and I love the place. I've spent months way out in the Mojave and way up in the Sierra Nevadas and these are two of the most beautiful places on earth.
When I criticize California, I am not criticizing the good people who live there and I am certainly not criticizing the land or the weather.
But as far as California's Democrat politicians are concerned and the parasites who put them into office, the place is a foul (political) toilet. I hope that doesn't offend you.
